What do you think is the best option for an entry-ish level gaming gfx card? And why did Nvidia make so many different options in the same price point!

my problem is this, I have an 9800 gtx + videocard and it works great in my computer when i use the drivers from the disk which came with the card. The problem is that every time I install new drivers for the card from the nvidia site it causes my system to freeze totally ever 5/30 minutes forcing me to reboot, the freezes happen randomly, doesn't matter if i'm gaming or if i'm doing nothing the system will freeze, it only freezes faster if i'm gaming. I've updated my videocards BIOS, made sure the old drivers were gone from my system, its not overheating, since the card wast last time i checked only 44 degrees celcius when it froze. the only thing left I consider is that it might be the power supply? I have a 500 watt one, may the new drivers suck more energy and push my power supply over the edge? any solution is welcome!

my system:
OS: windows 7 64 bit
motherboard: nforce 610i/geforce 7050
RAM: 3 gb
videocard: geforce 9800 gtx +
hard drive: 500 gb
power supply: 500 watt coolermaster pro

I haven't decided on CPU or motherboard yet. I've had good luck with Asus in the past and would probably stay with them on the MB. I'll also run mirror raid.
So what card would you recommend?
Also, while I'm asking, what size power supply should I be looking at?

Whenever I play Modern Warefare 2 or any graphics intensive game my 285 gets super hot. Last night I hit 99 degrees and the game ofcourse crashed.

I am thinking it may be my power supply not providing enough power.

Here is what I have.

I've been asked this question before, but never really had a good answer. Is there something important that Quadro cards do that normal cards don't?

I understand they're geared towards professional designers and whatnot, but are they really that much more powerful than current consumer-level graphics cards?

I ask cause a family friend owns an architectural company, and they're looking at upgrading their computers. Autodesk lists only Nvidia Quadro FX graphics cards as 'supported, recommended' graphics cards, but they're at least $1,500 each over what i'd consider 'normal' cards, and the price rises rapidly. So I'd love if someone can explain to me why, and if anyone has firsthand experience running AutoCAD on something that doesn't have a Quadro sat in it. Nvidia's website is singularly unhelpful.
