CPU temps seem to be high

I just built a new PC and after running Prime95 for 1 hour my temp was at 69c and my idle temp before starting was at 46c. OC'd to 3.6. Do these temps seem to be a little high. What can I do to improve on these temps. Thanks in advance Vince

and I would like recommendations for two power supplies one both with as high of amperage on the rail as possible. One does not need to be but a 450wat the other at least 700 or 750wat.

My freaking laptop is driving me nuts. The touch pad response is terrible. This just started happening in the last week or so. I have XP on it instead of the vista it shipped with. I also put a 7200 rpm hard drive in it. But I have had that on there for a year and a half so I know that isn't the problem. basically what happens is the curser won't respond. It acts almost as if the computer is froze up. If I right click I get response back but then the problem comes back soon. I went to the website and installed the XP pointing device driver but no change. Anyone have a similar problem. I don't know if I have a virus, a failing harddrive or what.

Clarification for memory timing / FSB

This is all new to me, so hoping for a quick clarification so that in continuing to go through this I'll comprehend.

I'm reading (and for the most part comprehending) "A Guide v1.4" posted by Graysky.

In an example regarding memory [DDR3-1600 (PC3-12800) 7-7-7-20 ] he wrote, "The number after it is the data transfer rate. Simply divide it by 4 to get the maximum FSB speed for which the module is rated. Example: 1600/4 = 400 MHz. Therefore, DDR3-1600 can work on systems with a FSB of up to 400 MHz (anything more and you�re lucky)."

My system has DDR3-1333. Following these directions, I get a max FSB of 333. However, my processor (Q9550 2.83GHz, 1333MHz FSB) already has a FSB speed of 333. Does his statement "anything more and you're lucky" mean that I can't really overclock this system, or am I completely missing something?

Need some help....with over clocking

I bought a HP m9500z a few months ago for approx $500 new!! Long story but I have all the warranties etc...
basic system spec are --
AMD Phenom 2 X4 Processor 3.0
6 megs memory
Motherboard is MSI made for Hewlett Packard when i access the bios there is nothing that would allow me to OC the processor or even mess with the memory timing...
I bought a ATI 4770 video mcard.

I would likwe to OC this present computer....
I know I could purchase another mobo and rebuild and I could probably be able to OC.
But is there a utility I could download that would allow me to OC...

Antec 900 + High Hardware Heat Constantly

as title suggests i have an antec 900 case.

im running an inte. 2.66ghz quad core
4gb ddr3 ram
nvidia 9800gx2
with a thermaltake blu orb as heatsink

basically im running my case as follows.
2 stock intake fans (intakes)
1 top exhaust fan (outtake)
1 rear fan (outtake)
1 side fan (intake.. have tried outtake. only variation was 1-2 degrees c)

basically here is my issue..

no matter what kind of day it is outside or how freezing cold or boiling hot

it is. my pc hardware always runs at this hot temperature.

aircon is usually on in hot temps and heater in cold.. temp is always around

21c-26c inside

my pc is dust free (cleaned not too long ago. 2 weeks maybe)
i have every case fan on the H(high) speed via the controller

I have even tried overclocking my fan speeds using rivatuner this dropped the

temps a bit... but they are still well over what they should be at.

currently taken from speedfan with cpu/gpu fan overclocked to 85%-90% speed

GPU 61c
System 31c
CPU 48c
AUX 127c
Temp 64c
HD0 30c
Core0 47c
Core1 46c

it records my system fan at around 1650rpm

Now.. if i was to record temps without using rivatuner to o/c my fan speeds.

the gpu would be around 77-80c
cpu would be around 50-60c

as you can see overclocking speeds or not. it is still very very high.

This does not include any gameplay, this is just general desktop duties, etc.

I might add that this occurs whether using 1 monitor, or 2. Also my PC hardware is in no way overclocked. just fan speeds.

any help is appreciated,

Boosting network speed: could and old ide server be the problem?

The network at our office has an old dell computer set up as a server. It's basically a piece of junk with half a gig of memory and a single ide hard drive. access and transfer times are incredibly slow.

Would building a new server with a sata raid setup and a faster processor make a big difference?

Hi all took my motherboard s939 out to fit a asus m2n sli delux am2
com appears to start fan starts up i think hds kick in but it wont boot no beeps no vidio on screen I do not have the manual for it so i had to put my preamium back in to get on here
i found manual on line and it appers it needs diverent psu uses all pins i think plus the 4 you put near cpu

any ideas if this is correct please before i go and buy a new psu als i have seen a adapter to convert

Weird Problem With Desktop, Need Help.

Ok, so this is a strange problem I am having with my desktop, and I would be surprised if anyone can figure this out.

When I initially turn on my computer and proceed to use a program like AIM, or the browser, after a few minutes it will just crash the program.

For example, I will turn on the computer, and open up the web browser (Mozilla). After a few minutes the browser will randomly crash. It will display the error message with the option to reopen the browser. This will keep occurring until I restart the computer.

After restart the computer seems to work completely fine.

Another problem that may or may not be related to this one, is that my computer will randomly turn off. I notice it happens if I move the tower even the slightest.

This problem has been occurring for some time now, and I have just gotten used to turning on my computer, and then immediately restarting it to avoid the problem.

Specs:
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT Graphics Card
XP Home Edition SP3
2.33 GHZ Dual Core Intel Processor
2g of RAM

The computer was made by CyberPower PC

Any help on this will be extremely appreciated, thank you.

Quick Question

All of a sudden when I try to start my computer, i have to go and shut the power off in the back then turn it back on when it completly shuts down because when I try to turn it on without doing that, nothing happens at all. Any idea of what could be causing this?

After finally building my first system, I started playing with bios with the final goal being overclocking.
First, my build:
mobo: Evga X58 3x SLI
CPU: i7 920
memory: Mushkin 3 x 2GB, DDR3 1600
CPU Cooler: Xigma Thor with 120mm Noctua fan
Case is Lian Li V1110 (if important)

So, I've completed building the system, installed Windows 7, but then noticed that fans are always on, well most of them.
I have have 2 chassis fans (intake and exhaust) + another for memory. These 3 fans are plugged into fan headers on the mobo. CPU fan is plugged into the CPU fan header (although the fan has 3 pins). The intake fan does not come on, but exhaust fan is always on.
I went into the PC Health status to set the fan speed and they are set as following:
CPU Fan Speed Control -- SmartFan
If temp > 60, Set Fan Speed 100%
If temp < 30, Set Fan Speed 30%

Power Fan Speed Control -- SmartFan
If temp > 60 C, Set Fan Speed 100%
If temp < 30, Set Fan Speed 30%

Chassis Fan Speed Control -- SmartFan
If temp > 60, Set Fan Speed 100%
If temp < 30, Set Fan Speed 30%

Aux Fan Speed Control 100%

The PC Health Status shows the following values:
CPU temp - 32
NB temp - 58
VREG temp - 57
System temp - 33

CPU Fan speed 1350 (varies)
Power Fan speed 0
Chassis Fan speed 0
Aux Fan speed 0 (sometimes increases)

My interpretation is that I have plugged the case fans into the wrong headers, but which are the proper ones? The Evga's mobo layout only specifies CPU fan header and 5 Fan headers (which I'm assuming are general fan headers). So, what did I do wrong?
I certainly wouldn't want case fans to run all the time, but should the CPU fan always be on?
Also, in the fan speed settings, what does the fan do when temp is above 30 and bellow 60 degrees and to set it?

btw, these are the setting with no apps open, with only windows running.

I'm planning to put together a gaming rig, between $500-$1000. Any combo/suggestions? (mobo, graphic card, cpu, memory..etc...)

I'm somewhat experienced with OC and willing to do it.

of course the cheapter the better; but i think i can afford $1000 if needed.

Requirements: run WoW, the upcoming starcraft 3 and diablo 3 flawlessly at highest setting. That's all i need.

F6 SATA driver install with CD

I am trying to reformat and install Windows on a PC with a SATA controller that does not have drivers included in the Win install disc.

It gets to where it says "no HDDs found" at the end of the disc load.

I've read the old way is to use a floppy disc when it asks for F6 drivers. The drivers I found for the SATA controller on the motherboard are 20MB in size, with files like setup.exe etc, so I'm not sure how those could ever fit on a floppy in the first place.

Anyways, what is the easiest way to create an F6 driver CD?

I read about a method using nLite to inject the files into the main install disc, but the first CD I made failed and had the same outcome. I'm not sure if I am supposed to be pointing to the Windows XP .ISO file as the source, or the mounted .ISO directory as the source to modify when it builds the new image.

If someone could briefly explain how to do this correctly it would be much appreciated.

A question from me to you all.

I've been building a rig, to order in a couple of weeks, only i saw on a Dutch forum people were talking about the intel i9, 6 cores, 12 threads.
I mean that *** is EPIC!

it wil be released till Q1 2010, now my question is, will the i9 be at a reasonable price for customer, or should i just go with the i7?
