Alright, so i've done some research, and got a few of my questions answered. I still have some that i can't seem to find the answer to. I've read posts where people say it is better to increase fsb or the ref. clock vs increasing the Multiplier. Is there any truth to this? Currently i have been using the AMD overdrive v3.1 to test my settings. I have attached two separate files. One of which being a report from cpuz which is wrec-pc.txt, and the other from AMDO which is a zip file, unzip and view it via xml or if you have AMDO open it there. This is my current OC settings. Only things i've changed in these profiles is the mutiplier by default is set to 15-->18, and ive upped the ref clock from 200--> 202 and PCIe speed from 100 -->103. Is there anything i should do further to help achieve performance? My pc typically runs quite cool, and the case is very good at circulated. Idle m processor sits at around 45c. If i need to provide screen shots are anything further to help answers questions please let me know.

Also added a SS of multiple information on my mobo, ram, voltages, and my video card.

Hi,

First system specs:

DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D pencil modded to SLI
AMD Athlon X2 3800+ OC @ 2.6 GHz
2 GB (2 x 1 GB) G Skill DDR 400 (I think it was running around 450 Mhz)
FSP 600W PSU
HDD and DVD RW don't think these are the problem
2x Geforce 8800GT in SLI
Lots of fans. Seriously, a lot.

System history: I originally built it in 2006, was my first system build - about a year after that I upgraded PSU, CPU, and RAM, cut my teeth in OC, and added some fans and it's been running stable since then (over 2 years ago). Most recently I upgraded to the 8800GTs (about 2 months ago) and they run very hot which is one of my suspicions but very far down on the list.

So here's my issue:
Last night the it turned off while I was browsing the web. This has happened before, but it's so infrequent that I have never worried about it - actually come to think of it it usually would restart rather than power down. This is exactly what happened next though: I power on, leave the room, come back, and it's off. So I power on and watch it: It takes a lot longer than usual to post - maybe 20 seconds of everything on, fans spinning etc, then POST and before windows starts, it turns off again. A few rounds of this and it boots to windows, stays on for 15 minutes or so, then turns off again. Most recently it powers on - and all FOUR diagnostic LEDs on the mobo stay lit and that's it, no POST no video, but all components are powered.

One more symptom. Since even before I replaced the PSU it's had an issue where after pressing the power buttton, it takes 10-15 seconds to actually power on. It got so bad (stopped working altogether) that I eventually replaced the PSU (and other parts) after which it worked perfectly for a couple weeks then reverted to the delay, which it's been doing ever since. It does so reliably and as such, I have just lived with it. For this reason, I think it's a motherboard issue, rather than a PSU issue.

My thought process so far:
Cleared CMOS. No luck, same problem.
4 LEDs means "detecting CPU" Apparently this isn't happening.
Could be CPU, could be motherboard. That's as far as I've gotten so far. I have my old CPU, so I'll be trying that when I have time (maybe this weekend).
Heat from the new GPUs could have caused some bending or something, but to be honest I haven't actually used these GPUs that much. Probably not for 3 weeks or so prior to the failure. (by this I mean I haven't run a graphic intensive application) I'll do more troubleshooting as I say when I have time, but that's scarce these days. Just trying to find an expert opinion, or someone that's had a similar problem. Thanks. Sorry for the length, just trying to provide as much info as possible.

What I have done so far
Honestly I have had this rig up to 4Ghz on the first day. No fighting, it just did it. Seemed stable, didnt do any substantial stability testing at the time however. Now that I have reconstructed my water loop (I doubt this is the cause but its the only thing that changed) I can only get 3.7Ghz maximum. Temperatures are still very low.
My best stable OC
CPU Clock: x18.5
CPU-NB Voltage: 1.3625v
Memory Clock: DDR3 1333
DRAM Voltage: 1.612
What I have been working on
I have been attempting to back off the multiplier to x18 and increase the HTT Clock. I can get it to run stable at 205Mhz without playing with voltages.
What I need help with
I have 4 voltage settigns in my Genie BIOS that relate to the NB. Not sure which of these i should play with when trying to OC HTT.
NB HT Voltage: Default at 1.2v
NB Core Voltage: Default at 1.4v
NB PCIE Voltage: Default at 1.1v
SB PLL 1.2V Voltage: Default at 1.16v
Side Port Voltage: Default at 1.6v

Could anyone shed some light on this? Any other suggestions would be
great!

I've always gone with Intel, but I built a PhenomII for a mate, and I found it rather impressive on a cash/performance scale. Here's what I'm using at the moment:

Asus M4A785TD-V EVO (Looks nice, good reviews)
PhenomII 945x4 (3ghz)
Gigabyte 5850 (I chose an Asus one, they sold out and offered me this)
8GB Corsair RAM (2x2 9-9-9-24, 1.8v + 2x2 8-8-8-24, 1.6v. Running both kits at the first settings)
OCZ Summit 60gb SSD
CoolerMaster UCP 1100W

Not to bad, plan to add another 5850 at some point. The 5870 was $200 more, and is only like 20% more performance.

#1. What is the settings which lowers the CPU clock when idling? I disabled C1E, but it still does it.

#2. I tried to create a RAID1 on 2x 750gb drives, after I'd already installed W7 on my SSD. I booted and it BSOD'd. I'm assuming it's because I was stupid and didn't install the drivers whilst installing Windows?

#3. I tried setting up Eyefinity on 2 monitors (waiting for my display apater for 3rd). The second monitor will just turn black, with white stripes running horizontally through it when I set it up. What am I doing wrong here?

#4. I need a good cooler. This chip is running pretty cooly with the stock one. I Tried putting my TRUE on there. However the bracket wants it to face away from the exhaust, and when I turn it the other way, it's hit's my RAM, and so I can't install it.

#5. I have CoreTemp open, and it's showing my overall CPU temp, not each core though. Is it a lame program, or can't AMD's be read like an Intel?

What I'm looking to do is cross fire 2 4890's or buy 1 5870 and cross fire another later, run a Phenom II x4 OC to 4ghz, run a raid 0 set up, and run teaming on the LAN with Windows 7 x64. I know the Asus only has one LAN port but I'd buy another card for it. I still consider my self a novice with PC's but I know my way around the bios to OC some and to run raid...any advice is welcome and thanks in advance.

The first thing I noticed wrong in this BIOS, is that whoever wrote this BIOS, typo'd Manual as Munual where you enable the CPU Core Control :lol
But things like that are pretty common from Gigabyte, as I assume it is primarily asian developers who write these BIOS'

This is probably Gigabyte's answer to Asus' new boards being able to control the cores and such that I read about not too long ago.

This may make things easier for those wanting to enable disabled cores and run their cpu's as tri cores or quad cores.
Well, It might not seem like much use for a quad core cpu, but infact, it can very useful.

I am currently running my 940BE x4 @ 230x15=3450MHz with x3 cores (core 3 disabled and just running a light overclock)
First boot with BIOS F9A:

My temperatures seem a hair lower now as they should be with my CPU running minus 1 core. Roughly 2C-3C lower so far.

Ive just flashed to this BIOS, and really haven't done anything other than key in my normal settings and disabled core 3. So, I will be playing with this more and see if i can get a higher overclock with 3 cores instead of 4, or something like that :lol

Hey all,
I have an older thread here about the bios of this same board but I have that solved.

Now I am I need to change out the processor of this board. Right now I have a 1.6ghz Turion AMD 64 socket 754.

I'm thinking about getting a 2.2ghz AMD mobile Athlon for this board but I don't know if its compatible...

I do remember many people talking about different boards only being able to accept only certain CPUs and thats all...

Right now im cruising ebay and seeing which one would be best for me:
http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

So would anyone know what types of processors are compatible for this board? like ML or MT models?

i have tryed everything i can think of including reseting the CMOS, but i still get the smae thing - post and reset. the system will not enter the BIOS either.

now the really confusing bit of this is that even tho the lights on the PS2 keyboard flash on first start, the num lock will not come on when pressed, but the the post screen registers when the del key is pressed to enter the BIOS.

any idea on other things i can try to see if i can this rig running again. i dont wanna have to replace the mobo really but it may come to that

I just put Windows 7 Ultimate 64 on another computer and the drivers Win7 installed for the network adapter do not work. When I try to access networks it says to install the proper network adapter drivers. I tried installing drivers from the mobo disc and it still doesn't work. I noticed that the drivers that were being installed from the disc were XP64. Regardless, they are the most current drivers I can find. Also, do I need to uninstall the existing drivers first?

The ethernet worked fine before with XP so I know it functions. Forgive my ignorance, networking is not my strong suit.

Here is the mobo:

The mobo only has 4 sata ports which isnt enough for me but i didnt worry to much because i have an SIL3132 pcie 1x card with 2 extra ports.

i had tested that the card was seen by the mobo before i went ahead and added my 3x80gb HD raid 0 config and added my two cdroms to the addon card.

upon rebooting after seeting up the raid it the addon card just does n0ot show up in the bios anymore so i cant boot off of my cdrom to install w9indows.

If i disable the raid, i can now see the card i9n the bios but obviuosly that is not going to work out well s9ince i need both to work at the same time.

Another wierd issue that im having is that this board does not seem to have an optional boot menu where you can pick what to boot off of.

I tried to use my USB cdrom go get windows installed but i cant seem to boot off of it either even though i have boot off other devices enabled in the bios and have the first boot option set to USB cdrom.

Basically it looks like i can set uo using a one HD type set up but im not really looking to do that. Im going to start looking over on the DFI forums but i wanted to get a thread going here first to see if anyone can help me out.

Whatever you guys got or suggestions would be great.
I putnthis computer together a while ago for my brother, and has been running fine, accept for not running the athlon 2000xp at its native 1.67 speed. Itran at its's 1.25 just fine, and I finally gave up on trying to make it run at 1.67.

Well I went over to my brothers house last night, and wanted to try again. I tried everything again, but this time I was dumb and set multi at 12 instead of its 12.5 just to see what would happen. The computer has not posted since. I need help with this.

I have tried reseting the cmos by moving jen jumper to 1-2 and back to 2-3. I have tried removing the battery, and so fourth. I even tried unplugging everything but basics, and even removed the cpu for a few. Nothing is getting this thing to post.

Someone please help with this.

Thanks.

Hi guys its been so long since I've posted.

As always It is time for upgrade and I'm looking to see what is the newest CPU that will be supported by my gigabyte M750SLI-DS4.

I have 2x GTX275's coming for Christmas and now I am thinking my 7750 BE dual core will need upgrade as well.

From the info I read last time I was thinking of upgrading to the phenom 2 and was told my board didn't support it. Now when I look at the site from gigabyte they have a AM3 tag slapped on the listing of the M750SLI-DS4.

I was hoping not to have to buy a new motherboard/ram/CPU and my cards all at the same time. Question is can I throw one of the Phenom2 cpu's in my board now or is it still not supported.
They have lost me with throwing the AM3 tag on it?

Here is the Link to the Gigabyte page I'm talking about.

http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...=socket+am2%2b

Thanks in advance for any and all help.
