A little info from the Intel Channel Conference

January 7 2010 is the release date for the 32nm Clarkdale CPU's, they are tight lipped about the Westmere Gulftown Desktop processor..the "hints" were that it would release the same day...no one told me that outright, sort of a nod and wink thing, the Westmere Xeon server stuff sometime after (they said "couple months"=March)

AND

The Westmere Gulftown IS AN i7 not an"i9" like a lot of folks have been saying.

Intels roadmap shows i3, i5, and i7 through 2010.

I do not know what the "Sandy Bridge" (next iteration, sometime 2011) series will be called..

What are the best settings for me to overclock the board and CPU? i7 920 CO

reached the frequency 3.8 and all is well and good, but the when you raise the multiplier from 19 to 20 to reach the frequency 4.0 device does not boot, and took off while holding fails after a minute, please help.

Intel Core 2 Quad Cpu Max Mhz not available at once

I have a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9950 dedicated server with windows 2003 x64, but the CPU max Mhz isn't available at once.
If I use cpuspeed.exe to test the Mhz it gives different values between 37 Mhz - 700 Mhz. This should be much more. The CPU is now throttheling and giving lags. It doesn't give full power at once.

If I use a CPU stress program and the CPU is on 100% the cpuspeed.exe program says 2800+ Mhz. So it can give full power. The problem is that I can't acces the full CPU power at once.

Does somebody know how to solve this?

i5 vs e7500

I am looking to buy a new desktop and need really good multi-tasking ability.

Is the i5 worth the extra price to see a large increase in multi-tasking ability.

I would like to be able to have 2 burners running, with normal computer use such as msn, IE windows, music, downloads etc. without any sluggish performance.

What do you guys suggest?

Intel claims it benchmarked the first TFlop capable chip today at SC09. I was in the third row when it happened, but it looked kind of hokey to me, he claimed there was an overclocked machine backstage they switched to to break the Tflop barrier.

He pulled a steve jobs "and one more thing" and I thought he was going to run crysis on it instead of that OC =(

I've got a question......
I wish to upgrade my CPU to one that has more power, is that doable in a laptop?

If it is I've read that the chipset has to support the FSB of the CPU is that true?

If upgrading is possible would it be possible to upgrade to a T9500 @2.6Ghz...35 watts, FSB 800Mhz? http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=33918

Last question.....if It is doable to change my cpu, anybody got some instructions? thx for the help!

Load: (didn't test)

OC:
2GHz (222FSB x9) - 1.325V
Idle: 32C
Max temp under load: 47C -- this was after a 12-hour orthos run

I'm just using the stock Intel cooler. I haven't done any OCing for a while so I don't know good temps anymore. Are these ok for this small OC? What's the highest temp I can safely go?

I don't know if the informations above are necessary or not but I can add other informations later...
I have tried all pll given by "SetFSB" and I got lot of error messages when testing, Finally I've found two pll that seem working in this PC:

SLG505YC256BT
SLG505YC264BT

The problem is that when moving the slider (increasing the FSB clock) and apply the new frequencies, the new parameter are shown only on "SetFSB" till CPUz and Everest still showing the original frequency of the FSB (166Mhz), It seems that there is no change:(, is this because its a wrong pll or what??

Please, I really need your help to do that...:(
