Hi all

I'm cheap and poor so I bought a Celeron E3300, 2GB of Kingston 800MHz (Elpida) and an Asus P5G41-M-LX motherboard.

Now, I can't see a Vcore option in the bios. I've hit 3GHz stable but I want more. I haven't used PCs in two years (sold PC, bought Xbox, sold Xbox, bought the above) so I'm rusty on a lot of the tips and tricks.

Questions for you!

Under JumperFree the options are:

Memory Voltage - Npbs

Chipset Voltage - What's this do?

VTT Over Voltage - "" ""

In my RAM configuration I have about thirty Trcd/Tcl/etc memory options. I can't boot into Windows with the memory set above 800MHz, it works fine at less than that but I am not sure which options will give me the most leeway. If I set the memory options to loose, ie change all 3s to 4s and 5s to 6s it still won't boot. What's a safe voltage to try at?

Thx for any help :)
I don't want a top of the line chip, but a good bang for the buck one thats going to be good enough that a top of line chip will really make little difference in real world use such as gaming. so my question is, should i keep this board or are there newer boards in the under $200 range that will have updated specs that make it well worth doing like buss speeds or support of newer better ram?

I have a gigabyte P35-DS3L mobo that has been relatively good to me for 2+ years w/ XP Pro. I am trying to install Windows 7 Pro from a Lexar thumb drive. The system refuses to boot from it no matter where I set the bios. I read everything I can find online, formatted the drive a number of ways (FAT16, FAT32 w/diskpart, FAT32 w/ HP usb disk format utility) and nothing works. The bios recognizes the thumb drive; I have even set it to have priority over the hard disk and removed the hard disk altogether from boot sequence. The usb drive barely flashes then the system defaults to the hard drive instantly. Has anyone had luck with this?

hey guys i am trying to fix up my i7 box a little...

before starting to read, i just wanna say that i am not an expert at this, the things i'm saying my be stupid to lots of expert, please i am just learning here, and feel free to say what comes in your mind

for now i have a i7 920 on a GA-EX58-UD4P, everything is working great overclocked to 4.2GHz stable on air, but i want just a little bit more overclocking wise
what board should i be looking at?
i have my eyes on the asus rampage ii extreme and the evga classified or the new ga-ex58-ud5/extrmem
i just can't make up my mind what i really want......

the asus rampage ii extreme got great overclocking ability, but it can only hold 12G's of ram, other than overclocking i like to do video encoding and cs4 stuff, they eats ram really quick

the evga classified got great lifetime warranty everything looks great on it, but can the board really overclock GOOD? on ripping.org no matter if it's 775 or 1366 i have not seen anyone get one the list with a evga board yet. even their F-T-W line (that's what i got on my jack as system.. i am not saying that it dosn't overclock, it can overclock but it dosn't overclock like it should of been)

and lastly the gigabyte, the ga-ex58-ud4p is my very first gigabyte board, i like and all, but i don't really know how's their overclocking ability vs other people like asus or evga, like how are they stuff like that....

my idea of this i7 box i want really is a system can overclock and when i am not overclocking i can game and do work on it
12gig vs 24gig i can kinda give that up, but i really like the evga lifetime warranty vs most the people only give out 3 or 5 years...

i am not just dead mined to asus, evga or even gigabyte i just need some advise

thank you

I bought this computer overclocked and put together so I haven't touched the bios ever, so I don't really want to go throught the pain of 'overclcking this thing myself.
By the way my case was open when this happened (don't usualy do this but I was putting in a hard drive and it ran cooler that way) and Im running an core i7 @ 3.8 ghz cooled by a coolermaster v8
thanks for your replys, this really stresses me out

please i need help guys
motherboard Asrock p43de
Intel e5300
1gb 667 ddr2
asus geforce 9800
my pc was working fine but when i tried to cut the pci-e x1 slot so i can but

my geforce 9500 as dedicated physics card , every thing worked fine and my OS

recognized both card , but later i noticed that the battery holder is in the

way of the card so i remove the battery for about 20 min to cut some of the

plastic in the way of the card. and after i return it i tried to power on my

pc
but there was no screen and after 3-5 seconds went off and again after 3-5

went on and then off and then on in a loop ,
so i removed all the parts ( power supply, ram, hdd, cpu, even the battery )

and try them on my old msi 945 motherboard and they worked fine so the

problem in the motherboard but the strange thing is the ram because when i

remove it the motherboard stop rebooting but nothing else happend , and it's

not faulty because it worked with the other MB and i tested it whith

memtest86+ program whith no errors and it had done the same test on p43de

motherboard before with no errors but it's not on the list of supported ram
of my MB because it's cheap type.
as for cutting the pci-e x1 slot i don't think it's the problem because i

have done it before on my old msi motherboard and worked fine and as i said

before my system recognized the two graphic cards at first
and I'm sure i didn't hit any other part and for the batter holder i only

cut some of the plastic and the battery still placed perfectly
the asrock p43de bios in all versions accept the e5300 cpu but even so i

tried older p4 CPU but no good either.
can the problem happened because i removed the battery for 20 min or my MB

fried or any thing else
i don't think my mp still covered by warranty after cutting the pci-e x1 end.
so please what is the possible solutions , the bios or the electricity or

over stressed MB . and if the MB damaged how much it will cost me because

where i live the p43de MB considered fairly expensive.
iposted in other forurm with no success so please i can use some help and

sorry for my bad English.
