Listen up. The 45nm cpu's are misreporting temperatures. My E8400 does exactly the same thing. I will guarentee that it is not reporting properly from the sensors! Intel has screwed up but refuses to let the cat out of the bag. As long as you are sure your heatsink is properly secured and AS5 applied, you are ok. Intel wsill have to work wiht the mobo manufaturers to fix this issue. My actual temps are in the high 40's at 4ghz not the 68 that my mobo and Coretemp are reporting. It's the sensors!!!
