100watt peltier isnt enough to cool an overclocked 2600+. if you try, your chip will die very, very quickly from overheating. if youre going to pelt, use at least a 178 watt, but 226 is recomended

err... just to make sure, you have a heatplate as well as thermal compound between the peltier and CPU right?

yes, thermal stuff (as5 recommended) between any area that transfers heat:
waterblock - as5 - peltier - as5 - coldplate - as5 - cpu thats the order |

as5 is not recommended for pelting. Ceramique is your best bet, due to non-electrical conductivity or some such. I believe AS5 is also not designed for cold-transfer environments.
