Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro vs. Audigy 4 Platinum Pro What's the difference?

I was cruising around looking at the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum and I saw that Creative Labs has released the Audigy 4 Platinum Pro. Now, the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro seems to have a similar external unit to the Audigy 4 so I was wondering if anyone has had an opportunity to try out the Audigy 4 yet. There's a $50 difference between the Audigy 4 Platinum Pro and the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and after spending about an hour reading specs on the two I'm at a loss to what the difference is between the two units.

yeah, there doesn't seem to be any difference between the two when it comes to sound quality and abilities. maybe input/ouputs and a special edition interface? sounds like a publicity stunt? there hasn't been anything from them soundcard wise for a bit.

it uses the same DSP so, in essence, it's the same card very little has changed in it, definitely not worth the cash

Better DAC's. MUCH better recording quality. Better SNR.... It's not worth upgrading if you own a Audigy 2 plat or plat pro, but it's VERY nice if you plan on recording, as it does it to the same quality level as the E-Mu series. It also does sound cleaner in music playback. If, on the other hand, you simply use it to play games, then the audigy 2 is more than enough to fit your needs.

Audigy2ZS PLATINUM all the way man. I've listened to music on many computers with thousands of different cards, onboard, speakers... The audigy2 is just fine for almost anything, unless you go Über-hardcore with the audiophile lifestyle...

Good point. I was wondering the same. I'll stay with my Audigy 2 ZS Plat. Pro.

If you have the extra 50 bucks, go for the A4, and tell your friends that you have the best Sound Card ever made... Also, my buddie bought this card (Upgrade from On-Board Audio) and we found out that the Audigy 4 chip has a HUGE sticker on top of it... Is it a Audigy 2 chip??? .

It's the same chip, but better digital to audio converters. It has the same ones that the E-MU series has. Thus, it had the recording quality of the e-mu series, and gaming quality of the Audigy 2. It's not a bad deal for those who want to do serious recording, and play games too, though those who don't record or already have an audigy 2 have NO reason to upgrade to this.
