Very strange........ we were having a problem at our house with BC Hyrdo (our electricity provier) and it was causing TVs to have static lines in them and speakers to have a similar sound in them. It can also be caused by some types of lamps/lights, or by other electric devices very near you with moving components. Try having everything off, and just turn on the speakers. If no noise is coming out like that, turn stuff on until you find the source. My speakers make a noise similar to that if I have the "CD Analog" unmuted in the sound panel, so I mute it and the noise goes away. Try muting things like that if you find your soundcard/computer is causing the noise.

Laviathan's advice is good
but if that isn't yr problem; I had a sound something like that coming out of my speakers before and installing new sound drivers fixed it. |

you should check and see if your speaker wires are running over power wires, same as in car audio you keep them seprate otherwise can create noise. My z-5500's made noise the first time i hooked them up re-ran my wires and problem solved
