Question Do all gamepads for PC from local retail suck?

Heres the issue Im havin with now w/a Saitek 2500 USB PS2-like gamepad

I found that sometimes while using it after a while it's LED gets really dim (still visible) then it stops responding altogether for no reason. When quitting the game I find it still detects as enabled working properly under Device Man but on Control Panel the Game Controllers properties menu almost stops responding but finally loads without detecting anything except that its there and supposedly working! Mobo is DFI NF4U-D and OS XPPROSP2. I disabled "turn off to save power" for all USB devices, the only other being a HP printer (2mA) and occasionally a Lexar jump. I did notice that the Saitek appears to draw the full rated 500mA rating for the USB port but so did the prior 1 I returned Real irritating I have to quit the game unplug and plug it back in it then it suddenly works again-well for a while.

The previous controller I JUST replaced was a rumble PS2-type USB 1 like the Saitek made by some company- its lower LR buttons got stuck sometimes, the right analog stick wasnt perfectly on-center, and the D-pad simply broke after a couple wks though it never once had any such non-tangible issues so I dont think its the mobos USB This is the 2nd controller in a row that is appearing to suck badly by not functioning correctly out of the box

I am using a Logitech Rumblepad 2 and so far it is working great. One problem is that although on the outside of the box it says that it will rumble in ALL EA SPORTS 2005 games, that is not true. Doesn't rumble in Madden, NBA Live, or Fifa 2005.

My old controller eventually got stuck, but so far this one is great.

I personally love my x-box controller. It was REALLY easy to make the converter myself and all the buttons work in most games with the drivers someone made for it.

I use a gc controller with a converter, man that thing is quality. Very accurate and definetly no issues what so ever. I would highly recommend it, much better than any pc controller I have ever used.
