ewwwww.... jeep wrangler...

nah, wranglers are fatter, guzzlers, more expensive and idiots drive them.

I think you'd be surprised how the Sierra goes. Mines stock and as of yet I have not been stuck.

A lot of fun in the mud.

As for hp... depends entirely on what its pulling.

Sierra has somewhere between 40-50 hp, but it is extremely light. Stock weight of just under 800 kg. Mine would probably weigh a ton with the bull, tow and roll bars... and me in it.

I'd probably look at power to weight.

The Sierra has decent power to weight so its preformance is... peppy.

If you thrash it and push it hard you can get some decent acceleration out of it, but it is appaling at high speed as there is almost no extra juice. Thats also due somewhat to the gearing.

Of course there are other factors. Like the Sierra has a short stroke so its a revvy engine, which gives the engine more power, but less torque. It doesn't have much power anyway but thats not the point.

Your ute might have a long stroke so it produces more torque, but less power.

So, a 'good' horse power doesn't really exist as your ute could have a long stroke so the hp might seem poor but the torques decent or vice versa.

My dad had an old ute that had shocking horse power but decent amount of torque, it had absolutely no issues hauling a few hundred kilo worth of tools around. While the Sierra on the other hand, has trouble pulling itself along with all my mates in it. The ute of course was even worse than the Sierra off the line. Even though it had a 2.6l 4 cyl compared to the 1.3l 4 cyl in my Sierra.

Anyway that was an enormously long rant. Basically, summped up, I'm saying that its not as simple as "which hp is best".

Jeeps last forever, can go anywhere, virtualy indestructable as they were used by the military for oh, only a couple of world wars. And if you call me an idiot again I'll crack ya' .

Jeep=Chrysler. Chrysler=Bad. The name Jeep has had many names behind it, and the current one does no justice.

Those Rangers are hella good offroad. They are only a little wider than Jeeps/Suzukis, but have enough wheelbase so they don't go end over end.

I had an 87 on 33s with a locker up front and LS in the rear. It would go anywhere. 4.56 gears and a 2.9 with a 5 speed kept it moving.

Don't worry so much about HP in a truck. You need torque. Ditch the 4 banger for a 4L V6 or 5.0 V8.

Thats def an Inline 4 lol, how could you mistake it for a V style?...lol honestly. BTW no n/a ford 2.3 ever put out anything close to 140HP until 2001 when they introduced the 2.3L DOHC Duratec engine, Mustang 2.3's are around 100 and the late 90's 2.3/2.5 lima engines are 100-120HP, thats break horsepower so around 100HP to the wheels, maybe a little less depending on elevation, climate etc.

I think that the turbo 2.3s put out close to 180HP, but I don't really pay attention to any of the 4cyls so I'm not sure.

If you cut the exhaust off the truck, it sounds awesome. I mean, cut the muffler off before the cat and it sounds like a baja truck, but louder.

The 'jump it' part should be self explanitory.
