udmon

Thought I would try out udmon today and when I get it installed, I add a couple of cache slots, but when I hit F12, it just hangs on the send/receive part, nothing more happens.

I went through the config that the udmon site shows for F@H.

Looks like I needed to point it to a pre-existing FAH directory to get it to work. Now I need to figure out how to configure it to start as a service and I am all good to go

Additional Comment:

Okay, I can't find any reason why I need to configure the cache slots with different machine IDs. Since the same machine isworking, and they aren'tworking concurrently, to me it seems extraneous. It'd be nice to not have extra CPU showing up in the stats too.

Are you not able to connect to the internet at all times with this rig?

I've got a friend's comp that I might be able to setup but he doesn't pay for highspeed... dial-up is a *****. My rigs shouldn't ever have that problem. I want to have myself ready to go if he gives me permission. When I told my dad it would take me 5 mins to setup and it took me 20, he got annoyed.

The issue is that you can have problems when filling those slots. The way the assignment servers work, if they get consecutive requests from the same system and same machine ID in a short period of time, they may give you the same WU twice, thinking that it got corrupted during the transfer. The safest way is to use unique IDs in each slot.
