GA-P35-DQ6 -No possibility of ANY clocking as soon as GX2 is installed?

Hey all,

Hoping this is a good place to post this, here goes;

I've recently starting my overclocking career on the following system, with the exception that at the time I had a Geforce 7600GT as graphics adapter:

FSP 700W PSU
Gigabyte GA-P35-DQ6
Xeon X3230 ES
Mushkin 2x1Gb PC6400
7950GX2 @ Alphacool OTC Flat!
2 x 500 Gb SATA
2 x 320 Gb SATA
Asetek Waterchill Xternal

I made my first wobbly steps and have actually managed a quite decent overclock which seemed stable-ish at 3.6Ghz with my X3230 ES, with the 7600GT in.

Now the problem, and it's completely puzzling me; as soon as I install my new 7950GX2 everything works fine with all the 'clocking settings' on AUTO, i.e. running optimized default. As soon as I change anything to MANUAL, the system will not even come past the BIOS screen (if it even comes that long) and it will reboot with BIOS automatically reset. If I only change the setting for FSB from AUTO to manual, without changing the actual FSB anything at all (so I leave it at 266), the system won't boot.

WHY?!

Got absolutely no clue what's going on. System is working smoothly as long as everything is on AUTO, i.e. per 'Optimized Defaults'. Tried both the PCI-E connectors, same result. The PSU is a 700W FSP, could that be a problem? I've been told it might, but if so I wonder why everything works perfectly fine as long as I got things on auto. Then again, what exactly does change when I alter the CPU Frequency from AUTO to MANUAL and set it for 266 x 10 (it runs in 266 x 10 in AUTO!!!). Apparently something changes, making the system unstable? Haven't had a single boot past the BIOS flash screen, sometimes it restarts even before that (during GFX memory check, or in between).

I'm completely puzzled....

I'm not actually doing any clocking, all I do is change the FSB from AUTO to manual.. and there's a no-go... Got the latest BIOS for the motherboard. Don't know about the GFX, can those be flashed at all?

It was suggested in another forum that the PSU is the problem. But if I'm not changing anything really, how would that be possible?
