32" Olevia LCD or SCEPTRE 32" LCD??
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889112006 http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_05771917000P going from price alone, the sceptre looks better, but thats only because it normally costs almost $700.... then again that means next to nothing. i can get the olevia locally, so that can be considered too. which should i go with? |

Not to bash Sceptre since i've never used one of their products, but I own an Olevia LCD HDTV and it has worked great so far and their customer support is really good too

looking at the spec looks like the Olevia will have a better picture but it just looks ugly.

sorry for the threadjack spyda05:
i have a pic comparison of ws formats/inches compared to 4:3 ratio/inches comparison and it only shows 15" 4:3 up to 30" ws. i was wondering if anyone has a bigger selection pic of tv sizes (like comparing 32" crt 4:3 and a ws 32" lcd)i would just like to see what you would lose in height compared to width . i have a 32" crt and was wondering what size lcd tv ws would roughly give the same height.(i am only asking because my 19"ws lcd is shorter than the 17"crt it replaced heres the "small for lcd tv,s" pic for an idea of what i,m talking about. |

My 32" crt is 19"x25" and my 32 LCD is 16"x28" so maybe a 37" might give you the same height.

.my 32"crt also has a 3" border on top+sides and probably a 7"- 8" bottom so with this added to your specs a 32" WS lcd would definately look tiny overall in comparison. tape-measure and futureshop i go(unless futureshops sell tape-measures)which i would then borrow...hopefully around spring time for actual purchase. |

That set SUCKS: the Olevia menu system is terrible whoever thought of it should be shot (like a spinning octagon that randomly changes ), the picture looks like gray (i.e. the contrast is crap), the people who run the exterior design department skipped all their classes in design school, the remote feels like a cheap knock off of a Fisher Price toy (but is much harder to operate), you will hate yourself if you buy this T.V. all of our Customers complain about the picture after they buy it. Look at the Vizio, Toshiba, Samsung or Sharp. The Sharp is the only 1080p set in this size that I know of it's like $1400 but Sears does better sales you just have to keep your eye on it. If you want to stay around that $600 mark, spend the extra $30 bucks and get the Vizio you will thank yourself later. Vizio at Sears |

I have that Olevia and it's a very nice set. The people who complain about the picture are probably the same people that plug it in and don't adjust anything. I set mine up and I can honestly say that the picture is crisp and vibrant.
As for the menu system, it's pretty lame but hardly a reason to not get a TV. You should be done using the menu after the first day. Sceptre makes decent monitors too but I have no experience with them personally. Vizio sets are nice, and they are the leading producer of LCD sets in the US, but they aren't the best either. Also, they are fugly as sin. |

Those Vizios are LG panels, no panels or sets are made in the U.S., the closest we have are the Toshiba sets and those are assembled south of the border ( Mexico ) and I will disagree with you about the Olevia I know how to set a T.V. but as long as you are happy with the picture that's all that matters. I can't comment on the Westing House as I have not seen or used it.
