how much is this worth?

I am not sure where to put this thread, so sorry if in wrong spot.

I am going to sell my old comp.
Pentium D 940
Mach Speed P4MSD800 MB
Nvidia Geforce 5200FX GFX Card
1g Ultra PC 5400 533mhz Memory
Thermaltake CPU Cooler
Windows XP 32-bit
All the other stuff PSU, case are even crappier no brand name. I also have all the original boxes for MB and GFX card with drivers and extra parts for case.

So how much is this thing worth? I just want a ballpark figure.

Not sure, but this type of thread might be against forum rules. As for the price, I would say maybe $300-$350?

Well I am not 100% sure, but if I recall correctly, I think I saw someone post a thread asking for price quotes and it was closed, but like I said not 100% sure. $200 would be a good price to get, I'd be happy with that too.

For some reason these older CPUs seem to be selling kind of high right now. It just is not that good and much better stuff is cheap now. I say $150 if your lucky.

Ditto. Don't sell it to tech savvy or overclocking type people, we won't pay as much for it. Normal people would easily pay a lot more.

hahahaha....when I buy crap like that I pose as a "normal person" and let them give me the sales pitch...then I rip them apart like they were a 5yr old child and make em cry!!!!! best approach is to be honest...it all comes back around to you at some point!!!

That is why I am selling it, it is not a good oc'er board one bit. I just would like to get something out of it.

LOL...listen to yourself... your saying be honest or it will come back to haunt you and yet you are saying you pose as a normal person when you buy "crap" then you make them cry. Practice what you preach.

I wouldn't lie to someone about it. It runs windows xp fine and internet and all that normal stuff. It is just not a good oc'er. I would just tell them what I want and if they don't want it they won't get it, plain and simple. I really do not need to sell it, but I figure might as well before it was worthless. I just wanted to know how much I could get out of it if anything at all. I really was thinking 100 dollars to be honest, that is why I asked for other people's opinions. Forgot to mention 40g western digital HD and aftermarket fan/copper NB cooler.

BTW what is craigslist?

lol...I only make the bad ppl cry...not the good honest sellers!!! Hey...I'm a good guy at heart and generally practice what i preach depending on the situation....I don't want you guys thinking I'm a jerk lol!! but any way enough about this!!! didn't mean to hijack your thread with my rantings!!! on with the price check! 100 or so sounds fair....I'm sure you will find a buyer just keep pointing out all the good stuff about it....try to sell it to a non-gamer....

LoL...I wouldn't lie about this just for the simple fact that I got ripped off on it, paid like 500 like 2 years ago...lol...I know I know. Was before I knew anything about oc'ing. Well there is not really anything about it being good except for the cpu is a pretty decent oc'er, with a better MB of course. Had it up to 4ghz just messing around, but with air cooling the temps are horrible. It would be a decent rig for someone who just wants it for the normal stuff, but definately not for oc'ing or for gaming.

Well here is the thing. You don't lie to people about the things you sell. Tech savvy and overclocking type people won't pay as much for it. Because they can usually build a computer themselves, know the good deals, and where to buy from. People that lack this knowledge usually are not as snoody as we are. So you start the price higher then what you'd ask someone tech savvy for, and lower it from there. Say someone on this forum, EOCF, offered you $200 and no more for that computer. Well, someone who is not tech savvy, you could start the price at $350, then go down from there until they agree with your price. It's not lying really. I mean don't price gouge the crap out of people of course like some do. $300 is a fair price for your rig, and maybe most overclockers or tech people would pay $200 for it? So if you don't sell to people of tech nature, you can score an extra $100 or so, and not be a price gouger, see what I mean?
