Cable box to Hauppauge TV Card
I tried using a splitter off the cable box and ive tried an s-video cable . What should i have the 1800 scan for ? When i hook the computer to the wall outlet without the cable box i get 75 channels and a few ota hd channels . Right now i have the cable box into the Olivia via coax and an s-video running to the pc . I get great reception on the olivia but nothing at the 1800 . Olivia 32" , TWC Pioneer cable box , Hauppauge HVR-1800 . How should i cable it and how should i scan it ? |

I think you would want to split it before the cable box if you want to use the 1800 as a tuner/DVR. The down side is you will only get the basic channels.

i have the same tuner as you. Are you using xp or vista? Ive had alot of trouble getting anything reliable out of it in xp. Did you get the MCE kit version? If so, split the output of your dvd/cable box and send one to the computer. You can use the IR blaster to control your cable box then(depending on brand/model etc)

I tried comming out of the cable box and splitting the coax cable to the tv and to the computer but when i scan i get no channels .
I ran an s-video cable from the cable box to the computer and get nothing . If i split before the cable box and go to the computer i get 74 analog channels , 8-10 ota HD and 0 digital channels . What format should i be scanning to get a digital signal/channels from the cable box ? |
