Do you really want the 2.5 cats or do you want the WHQL 3.0's?
Anyway, I never had success using the install program for catalyst drivers so what I do is I run the install program, tell it to install the temp files to C:\ATI\Catalyst *version # here*\ and then, when it fails to install even though I have removed all previous drivers and registry entries and have the card running as a VGA card and have unplugged my internet connection I still can't get it to install, I let the program crash. Then I go into the device manager, choose ATI Radeon 9500/9700 Series, go into driver, update the driver, point it to C:\ATI\Catalyst *version # here*\ and go into the proper directory that has the INF files (which is easy to find) and let it install that way. I then install the control panel and it all seems to work just fine without any stability issues. Sound OK to you? |

I got 12.8k with Cat 3.0 and DX 9.0. That's all stock as well. It was the same I got with the 2.5s (which came with my system) really, just 300 points higher. That was with my system though, so I hadn't really tweaked it to death with the 2.5s. Plus I can enjoy those nifty little DX9 demos and drool over what the new games will be.
