Question Upgrade to KIS2010 issues from KIS2009!

I have been trying to upgrade to KIS2010 from either a) on top of my existing KIS2009 installation using the KIS2009's valid Code File or the valid V2009 Activation Code, or b)installing the KIS2010 as fresh after uninstalling the KIS2009 without success! In each incident KIS2010 validation screen would flag up my KIS v2009's code as "incompatible" and could only offer me to "trial" the product or "activate later". I have followed what the KIS Suppport Site has recommended to upgrade to KIS2010 but still the SAME problem. According to KIS Support site, prvious KISs as low as v5 can be upgraded to KIS2010. The version of KIS2010 I tried is :9.0.0.463 and my KIS2009 version is 8.0.0.523.
Any body has come across similar issues??

Not for me, try to remove it completely and reinstall it, make sure to delete or backup the appdata files and then see how the outcome is.

Thank you for the reply!
Did you use the Kaspersky's dedicated Removal Tool for removing your KIS2009 (which can be download from the Kaspersky Site), or just use its Removal Option under the KIS2009 Menu in your Windows OS?
Thanks

I just used the regular uninstall from add/remove, but you can use the removal tool afterwards if you want.

Strange! I used the Removal Option in my KIS2009 Menu to un-install the KIS2009 prior to install the new KIS2010. What I thought was using the KIS Removal Option under its own menu would completely remove its SW tracks.

In addition to using the "add&remove programs" function in the control panel, i use the "search" function afterwards to locate any left behind folder/file/hidden file/icon/etc to completely remove everything.

Also there are files located in:

C:\Users\All Users

That's where most the Kaspersky data files are stored.

Thank you guys!
In one word, it would be safe to use Kaspersky's own Removal Tool found in their Web to complete the previous KIS SW removal even after exercised the Windows Add/Remove of KIS's previous SW un-installation. This way I may be able to avoid using your said "Search" exercise?

Using the program removal tools helps, but im the type that has gotten used to double checking... ie using the search function to look for leftovers.
