Got my E8600 in today and tested it and got this after about 3 minutes of turning the FSB up in ET6...
These E8600s are very easy to overclock!
When the cascade gets here I'll be pushing for 6ghz...

I had to save up for a while.... getting a deal from a guy on XS!
I figured might as well save up for Cacade when I already have H2O and SS is just in between...
Might be able to knock Dentlord from his X3 throne at 5.3ghz or something...

you can give it a go but I could not compete at 5Ghz see rig # 2 scores

but 5.5 is a entire different story ... but I have to beleive an i7 @ 5 will take it

goat went in with Quad fire at 4.8 to take it all beit at a lower res.

Would love to see what he could do at 1920 x 1200

Alas my beloved E8400 chip died this morning ...(Friday the 13th). I'm starting to transition to socket 1156 but I had planned on keeping this chip since it was a great overclocker... better than both of my E8600's and I just put this chip back in a setup yesterday. This morning I thought I'd push it some more again and my motherboard killed it. It is the second chip that has died in this board... the first was nice E8600. I've never had chips fail like this and when the E8600 died I thought it was a just a weak chip/fluke or I might have been pushing too far but now after the second has died I know that under certain settings this board/bios combo does something lethal. The board seems to performs quite normally up to a point. Earlier in the year I had pushed this chip pretty far in the exact same board with no problems and even farther in my P45-UD3P.

doeknow your voltage is not out of line my guess is your VTT is too high
It is a C2D killer

Great job none the less ..... feels good breaking the 5 Ghz barrier

Good luck

I tried to boot with +1.45v vcore but less than 1.475v and ~1.35v NB and Vtt. I can't remember the exact settings when the E8600 died (last November) but vcore again was greater than 1.45v... both times an attempted boot and then just catastrophic chip failure. I'm pretty sure it is the board with certain settings that caused the chips to die. I pushed higher voltages on my other board with out problems... but I recently traded it and some ram for an i5 750.
