Question Dual PSU or GPU PSU Or Leave it Alone

Hey all
I am wondering what I should do regarding my PSU or am I ok where I am at.
Rig
EVGA Classified 3way
2 Nvidia 295's
Coolermaster 810 Case
Nvidia 9800
3 1TB Western Dig 7200 rpm Raid 5 on a PCI SATA raid card
4 150GB Wetsern Dig raptors Raid 0 on MOBO
2 DVD RW drives
2 cool cathode neon lights
6 180mm Antec Tri speed fans
2 Swiftech 655 water cooling pumps
PCI express NIC
I currently have a TAGAN BZ1300 PSU I am wondering if that is enough. It limits me to not plugging in the 2econd CPU 8 pin on the Classified MOBO. Since it only has one
I was thinking a Dual PSU the second to power the fans and pumps, I am in the Navy and would need them to turn on at the same time because when I am out of town my wife will forget about the other PSU. (If I did could I connect the 2nd PSU CPU 8 pin in to the other slot on MOBO?)
I was also thinking using the GPU PSU's give the TAGAN a break. (would I be able to use one of the TAGAN PCI 8pin plugs for the GPU for the Second MOBO cpu 8pin?

Thanks in advance for any advice

This is your solution. As for the extra 8-pin +12V EPS connector, I sincerely hope your Tagan is a single rail, because if its not, we need yo know the exact rail to wire assignments. If single rail or once we have isolated a rail relieved from duty by the GPU +12V Booster supply, we use 2-molex's to create a second EPS plug, either with adapters or a custom harness.

Best Wishes,
Dave

Thank you for the help.

Is there a way to convert a 12V (P4) so I can use as the (P8) I am missing?

What about something like this and a 600W PSU for some of the load?

FSP & TT both make dedicated GPU Booster supplies, as I recall one was a 650W version that took 2X 5.25" bays, it should be fine.

I make my own wiring harnesses, but there are adapters, just make sure the split the load pin to pin & not 2 to 1 as you can pull some real amperage here especially on LN2.

GPU Booster PSU's: http://www.google.com/search?q=GPU+B...ient=firefox-a

JonnyGURU also did a review of these a while back.

What I think I will do

Thanks for the advice

I have decided to go with a TT Power Express 650W GPU PSU. I am wondering should I use it to power both 295's or one 295 and the 9800?

Then I found a 4P to 8P adapter to allow my 4p from the main PSU to power the Second 8pin slot on the MOBO.

Does this sound like a solid solution.

Spread the Booster's power over both 295's, as no 295 pulls more than 325W's, & yes as long as the 8-pin EPS connector has actual wiring going to each pin. Still not as good as 2X molex's, but it should work just fine.

Now, what we have just described works perfectly with single rail PSU's &
I believe your Tagan has a switch to set it as a single, combined rail operation.

Thanks again for the continuied help

The only switch I see is the (Auto +12V Turbo power switch) is that the single Rail switch you mean?

If it is not single rail, will that be a problem.

Yes, put that in "turbo" mode for "high performance single rail operation".
