Yeah, my wifes '02 S40 heater core started leaking. $500 for the heater core and $1000 labor (11 hrs bluebook). Only available heater cores are new ones from Volvo and the heater core is in middle of the car behind the console/dash. Currently running a pipe bypassing the core till I can find a replacement one in a junkyard if I'm unable to fix this one. I've done radiator repairs way back when I was a auto mechanic so figure give it a shot to fix it depending on where its leaking.
