WAN VPN Connection

I set up incoming connections on a Windows 7 PC on my LAN using Windows networking. Very simple. I am able to make a VPN connection from another Windows 7 PC on my LAN, but I am not able to make VPN connections from the internet. I read on the net that routers may not allow GRE Protocol 47 to pass through them. I guess this is my problem? My Westell 7500 has options for PPTP-, IpSec- and L2TP-passthrough. Any ideas? I have port 1723 forwarded to the VPN PC.

Have you tried setting Host DMZ?

DMZ = DeMiliterized Zone (or Perimiter Network)

I went ahead and set up my own Windows Server 2003 servers for routing, remote access, DNS, WINS and DHCP. To hell with linksys!

How has that been working out for you? Did you have the proper ports open for GRE to passthrough? (alongside the ports for the other VPN protocols).

It works great. No pass through to worry about, as I am using a Windows Server 2003 router. PPTP and L2TP work like a charm. Also have another Server 2003 running DC, DNS, DHCP and WINS. I use my Valet Plus as an wireless access point to my network.
