Fun With Ivy

I picked up a Sabertooth Z77 and 3570K today. The CPU is a C stepping, close to center of wafer, so hoping its a good one.

The board is incredible so far. Tons of neat little things, and everything you would expect from it. BIOS has tons of stuff, some are simple but very nice to have (BCLK:RAM dividers are back baby ), and some that Im going to have to learn (more ram settings then Ive ever seen ).

The thermal armor is actually nice, and the look/feel of the board is great. Vcore is spot on at all time, fan control is amazing.

So far just testing the CPU with a CM Hyper 212 EVO until I can get my loop taken down from my AMD build. Undervolted to 1v even, 4Ghz is LinX AVX stable, 60C hottest core. Bump to 1.1V and that jumped to 72C . Passes 4.2 with 1.1V, testing 4.4 with 1.15V. Im now up to 80C though, so thats about all it will do with this air cooler, LinX stable.

(also, power draw at 1.1v 4.2Ghz hasnt even gotten to 70w yet (using dedicated video card). So Im going to try a Vapochill LS on it next week.

Additional Comment:

Im thinking once its under water, I should be able to get 4.7Ghz with 1.3V or less. Thats 100Mhz less then the best 2500K I had, but Ivy at 4.7 should equal a 2500K at 4.9, so itll at least be a bit faster.

Its crazy how much heat is cause by the voltage. At default, I hit 63C. Undervolted to 1V and ran 4Ghz with a max temp of 60C. From there, every .1v has added about 12C with air, while increase in clock speed has basically no effect on temps.

Im now trying to lower some of the other voltages. Vdimm effects CPU temp. By lowering from 1.5Vdimm to 1.47Vdimm I took 1-2C off each core. I have PLL undervolted to 1.6V instead of 1.8V. Going to try out the other voltages tomorrow.

Additional Comment:

Have tested this IMC up to 2600Mhz with 2x4GB. Temporary hold now though as I think Im getting a 3770K instead.
