Exclamation Fold-a-thon Number 4 next Monday-Wednesday!

This is a heads up for Fold-a-thon Number 4. Time for you to fire up something extra if you aren't fullly committed, or time to try it if you haven't yet.

Starts at Midnight Sunday night May 13 and ends Wednesday May 16 at Midnight.

If you only want to complete one unit, be sure to use the -oneunit argument.

Thanks.

FWIW, my i3 laptop folded ok. I just made sure it was on a hard surface so the vents wouldn't close up. I may try to start up a few more machines if I can get my wireless working on the 4Ps and moved to other rooms, so I have enough power.

I had mine folding before. It folded fine... until the screen corrupted, and then windows wouldn't boot.

What happened is apparently the graphics card driver crashed or something, and windows was already corrupted from a failed windows update. It was just a not-fun sequence of events. I'm just nervous about putting it under the stress of folding.

You could install virtual box and limit the amount of cpu that it can use and install ubuntu in that vm. That barely uses the graphic card unless you turn the graphic capabilities up for the vm. If it works ok, turn up the processing or down if it is getting hot.

Yeah, but since it's the GPU that's glitching, I'm not sure that would help me much. Temps were OK for both the card and the CPU.

I'll fire up the desktop and laptop again. Hopefully, the CPU will do alright at 4.2GHz at lower voltage.

I lost some PPD from stability problems on the bigger WUs so I backed my clocks down for now and will do more tweeking after the fold-a-thon is over. No games for the week either,
