Hey guys whats up. Still trying to figure out folding. Im not good with software lol .
Anyways i picked up two older pc's
Ones a pentium 4 no idea which model its a dell bcsm thats all i got
The other is a hp dc7700
My main rig is a phenom x4 955 BE with a gtx550 ti
Also a base mac home computer
And a 5 yr old mac book
And finally a sony viao with a t6500 core 2 duo and a 4500 radeon mobility series gpu.
If i get all these running for lets say the two old pcs 24/7
The phenom 2am to 330pm

And the viao basically 24/7
How much will i benefit the team? Or let me re hrase that can i make an impact in helping?

Yes, it will help.

I wouldn't bother with the P4.

Anything that's a dual core will probably get you 1-2K PPD on SMP.

The GTX550ti should be worth folding with... probably something like 9K PPD, and I would think the Phenom would get you 3-4K PPD.

PII? I assume you mean PhII?

That might get you 6-9K PPD depending on the WU. For some reason I was thinking the 955 was a Phenom I.

The highest estimated PPD I see from my 955BE (@4GHz) has been 8300ish PPD. I'm only running smaller units for the sake of my spotty internet connection. So I get more WUs done in a day but they are less points. I'm not sure what would get the best PPD. Oh, you should get a passkey for the SMP client, at least. After 10 SMP WUs, per client, you will get a few bonus points. It's more noticeable with the bigger rigs but I think the bonus still works for normal SMP. What cooler do you have for the 955?

I think the 550TI is a little under my card. I get around 14K PPD but that's with an OC. (Core:782MHz, Shader:1564MHz, VRAM:865MHz)
Here is a data base of average GPU PPD with different units that is maintained by OCN. http://www.overclock.net/t/475163/fo...u-ppd-database I lurk in the database once and a while to decide what cards I'm gonna try and get at the end of the summer, for my "become EOCF #3 producer" project.

And I just noticed there is no 550ti in that database. But I'd expect Maniac to be pretty accurate in his guess, knows his stuff.

And I think only the Radeon 5xxx series or newer can fold now. AMD/ATI changed the way the cards are coded, I'm really bad at this level of tech jargon. But they are running there last batch of WUs that the HD4xxx or below can run and you could wait a week for a WU.

As for how much will you help the team, the guys that put out less than 100PPD help the team a lot. They are doing smaller units that other systems won't even pick up. So if they weren't around we would never get those WUs. Everything helps. It just uses a lot of power for not that many points but it's science that needs to be done. But 10K will put you in the top 20 PPD for the team.
