Amd 4850 Graphics card/ Audio output?

I have a old computer with a amd 4850 and I want to plug it into my tv. Is it possible for this card to also carry a audio output to the tv through the same cable as it carries the video signal? I plan to use a dvi to hdmi conversion cable.

Specs of old computer are in sig.

i may be wrong, but i believe that the only cable to do that is HDMI, i dont think dvi will carry an audio signal.
When i did this i ended up using a dvi - hdmi and running a harness from my xfi to my av amp

You will need an approved ati dvi-hdmi adapter and connect the tv via hdmi.

Audio over dvi is impossible.

So in a word, No.

Wrong! Audio over DVI from certain video cards is very possible you just need the right adapter. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814999010

You have to have the right GPU but you can do it for sure.

Don't spread misinformation.

News to me, I figured if my hd4200 integrated couldn't and my 7850 couldn't then no ati cards could. That's an interesting group of cards that have the capability.

68xx and 78xx can do HDMI via either native HDMI Or displayport to HDMI

I know you can pass audio over DVI, but its not exactly black and white. some video cards with certain adapters can do it...

best bet is to google search it and see what it takes to make it work on your make/model.
