Swiftech Apogee Drive II combo CPU block + 35x pump

It doesn't seem Gabe from Swiftech is going to announce this at EOCF so let's cover the release of the Swiftech Apogee Drive II http://www.swiftech.com/ApogeeDrive2.aspx . It is a CPU block + 35x pump combination announced about 2 weeks ago by Swiftech CEO Gabe Rouchon at XS and other forums. The photo is a Swiftech stock photo and there are several more including internals at the links.

We know about the 35x from Martinm210's testing at his website. But I don't know about any independent testing of the block. Swiftech's proprietary data says the CPU block is as good Swiftech's Apogee HD, which is among the best.

Is Swiftech using their unique 35x PWM pump to muscle in on the competitive CPU block market? Is this a specialty space-saver for compact builds or will it go mainstream? What about fittings - will only barbs or rotary 45° compressions fit? And how close is that one port to RAM?

Please share your thoughts on this new product.

Looks good - it's cheaper than buying the pump and block separately too. As you say it would have been nice to see independent testing, but I like the idea.

Sorry for overlooking the prices. Doh! At the Swiftech website, the CPU block only is around $70 while the Apogee Drive II is $145 for Intel 1155/1366. It's slightly less Intel 2011 socket and AMD.

At Jab-tech, a reliable vendor who discounts, the Apogee Drive II is $145 all 3 versions so no discount yet. However, the Apogee HD is discounted to $60 and 35x to $80. So, at "street prices", not sure there is cost-saving...at least yet. But the space-saving remains.

It's meant to be a second pump. It looks a like a gimmick, I could be wrong, but that's the way I see it. If one was adding an additional pump for redundancy, there other ways to go.

It's pretty **** powerful at 14.7ft of head. Definitely primary pump material.
