Corsair AX or HX series?

My next planned AMD build is:

Asus Sabertooth
AMD 8150 CPU
EVGA 560 Ti 448

500W is the base with mild OC factored in. The AX650 gives a bit of headroom and the HX750 provides even more. Prices between the two are $10 different. Efficiency, the AX is about in range while the 750 will be around 70%.

Which would be your suggestion?

I see only a $5 difference(newegg) with the HX750w being cheaper before MIR($135) for both and both are just about on par effeciency wise... offereing more headroom for upgrading, the 750w would be the better choice IMO.

AX650w - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139035

$150 for a silver/gold 750/650...

Ouch IMO.

You can get stronger LEPA/XFX/PCP&C/Seasonic units for cheaper.

Corsair has done well, I've used/have the HX series 520, 620 and 750. The HX750 breezes through easily now and for any future builds. I didn't know if I'd see any difference speaking of the electricity bill if using an AX series. With the costs being close, it had me wondering.

I prefer Corsair or Antec PSUs. I'd go with the AX650. You have PM.

You'll do just fine with the HX, too. According to this http://www.custompcguide.net/the-dif...-supply-units/ , the HX is semi-modular and has 80 PLUS Silver power efficiency. It also uses 140mm ball-bearing fan that means there is less noise on full load in comparison to the any other models except AX.

And speaking of AX, it is fully modular with the automated fan control system similar to the GS series; the fan does not spin unless the temperature reaches a fixed threshold. You also get 80 PLUS Gold on the efficiency note. But that is about it.

Seasonic makes these PSUs for Corsair so you may also want to look into their power supply line up as well.

My choice would be the HX750. Gold efficiency, modular, more power to spare, less $$$. Built by Channel Well and backed by an insane 7 year warranty. It doesn't get any better. The difference in electrical performance is so negligible that it is completely meaningless. Follow your wallet and craving for more power.
