Exclamation I said YES , id do it....and then...

Been building/owning PC,s for years, so my knowledge is pretty good...my nephew decided it was time for a new PC, and as usual i was up for it..always good spending some elses money !

Hears what i bought
ASUS extreme maximus Z VI mobo
ive bridge intel 3770
corsair 16gb (4x4) 1866 9-10-9 1.5v
graph card 6970
1000w cooler master PSu

all STOCK nothing oc,d

Ive been fighting it all day, i cant even get a post without getting non-stop errors..those who aware of the board , will be aware of the LED number display on the top right of the board..the errors number range from 38-F2-72 and the current 55 , which mean "no memory" (it has memory in it) trust me.
This probably the worst combo of parts i think ive ever bought to date....ggrrr
things ive tryed

banging head against wall
3 sorts of different RAM (from working computers, even mine!)
try putting memory on different channels
different graph card
changed bios,s
reset cmos
tryed different PCI slots

ive stripped it down to nothing and built it back up part for part , with still no luck...any ideas welcome before i throw this PC off a cliff..

Try a single stick in the 1st memory slot. Seems like ASUS has alot of issues with the new CPUs and RAM.

If it doesn't work, Id test your PSU in it, and if it doesn't work, Id return the board for a new one.

That board is stupid overpriced... speaking of which, you might need a new BIOS (flashed from a Sandy Bridge (ex. 2500K)) to get support for newer chips on a Z68.

Yes, could be even a G620. Anything that is Sandy Bridge, or that runs on P67 basically.

Just return it after anyway if you can, so you don't end up losing the cash. Or if you know somebody locally who has a SB chip, see if you can borrow it.

You need to know people personally in Australia to swap fully operating parts, nothing like the US, you buy over the counter, open or break the packaging, they usually won't except a return.

but if its DOA ?? how is that your fault..i shouldnt exspect anything less then a swap ..no arguements, ive spent a $hitload there...

I called them today (pc shop) and i explained everything, they will do a straight swap....mobo for mobo..it has to be the same one unfortunatly ,also they are going to test it before i take it !!

They are very good "pc-case-gear" in australia , never any hassels..

PCCG is a wicked site. Also check out Mwave.com.au and shoppingsquare.com.au

Shoppingsqaure is great because occasionally they have $1 shipping, and you also build points with every purchase.

have you tried the new ram in another pc just to rule that out? and tbh, if you're going ivy bridge id send that board back and get a Z77 to remain future proof (PCI-e 3.0 etc)

I use PCCG too, bought a lot of gear there over years, never had any failures, the problem is I live 1200km away, but it's nice to know they have decent return policy, locally you open it, you own it, you have to deal with the manufacturer which is a absolute pain, I also buy from Techbuy in Sydney, it's 600km away, had a couple of returns with them, one item got lost in the post and because it had over-extended the delivery time, they weren't eager to take the return, but they honored it eventually.

But returning parts simply because your unhappy with them, rather than being faulty, most don't want to know you. You just can't judge the rest of the world buy what happens in the US.

HiGottistar,
I purchased a Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe M/B from Mwave in Sydney and the computer will only boot if a ram chip is slots 1 & 2..Not dual channel.Tested with Kingston./Patriot/G.Skill ram..Keep getting error 55 like yourself ...Requested RMA and the board is now on its way back.Other people are having the same problem

Additional Comment:

I usually buy from pscasegear in Melbourne(I live in Melbourne)and find their service to be excellent..quick delivery and quick response reclaims

I hate to say this, but it could easily be that bios needs updating, when buying a new motherboard, you should first try to determine what cpu's the motherboards bios is compatible, especially if it's a cheaper board that's been out a while.
