Interesting that you spared no expense on a highend AMD rig yet you run a measly 5570 and a small 5 year old PSU. What will you be doing with this machine?

Well, I hope to upgrade the graphics card next year, will program writting on Linux and gaming. But my computer died suddenly on me as I'm also waiting on piledriver, hopefully it'll prove better than bulldozer. I want a system that'll take a few years before its out dated as well and I do have plans for a better graphics card. Any ideas for the side intake fans I can fit 4-120mm on the side mesh panel. Seems like my last build was so out dated the minute I had it running.

Update and get a decent PSU as soon as you can, it's the biggest mistake people make when upgrading. You need slightly more exhaust than intake otherwise you need dust filters which are a pain, a single 140 in the area of the graphics cards would be better, but how you decide to do your cooling, that's up to you.

I will use the psu calculator on here, but the Seasonic psu I purchased earlier this year as that gave out on my older computer first, so it should be okay to check if everything works and to make sure what I have will work good before even try anything major.

I see you changed the original thread, did you rma the Seasonic or was it out of rma, a 520w would be on the limit depending on your hardware, usually Seasonic and Corsair are reasonable PSU's, but I guess with the lack of quality control these days it's hard to say what's good quality, me I usually buy corsair,l haven't used Seasonic, so many re-branded products these you wouldn't know what your getting.

I have a couple of links to overclock.net where a guy did testing on just about every 120 mm fan you can think of for noise and a thermal comparison on a megahalem heat sink with an I7 860 at 4.0 GHz. Soon as somebody says it's okay to post those links I will do so.

As far as I know, it's okay to post external links as long as your not trying to promote or sell something for your own gains. Unless it's in a part of the forum that deals with that sort of thing.

That's good enough for me. You will hopefully find these two links as useful as I have.

http://www.overclock.net/t/724577/th...ps-56k-warning

http://www.overclock.net/t/859483/ro...working-thread

The 2nd link has tons of fans with actual youtube videos of the fans being ramped up from 0.0 volts to 12.0 volts so you can get an idea of the CFM and the noise pattern yourself. If you can't find the fan for you from these two links you aren't trying hard enough. I hope it provides as much fun to everybody else as it did for me.

I like these silverstone fans. This model has been around awhile (Since 2005) and are very durable, with adjustable fan controllers, so you can run them bawls out or find your balance of flow/noise.

Don't waste your time on the SilenX products Brian. They over rate their specs on everything.
Always good to see you poking around here BTW.

While the airflow with them didnt seem quite as high as advertised, I have found my SilenX fans to do pretty well for how quiet they are. I am using them in a PC I use for audio recording, and they are silent.

Airflow did seem comparable to a typical coolermaster or rosewill case fan, just not quite as much as they had on the spec sheet.

Im not arguing, Im just saying that they serve their purpose depending on your goals!

Your quite right it depends on what you want, I swapped all my Panaflos out for quieter fans and it didn't effect the temps at all, in fact I got a slight improvement, best thing I ever did, brute force cooling not always the answer, you can actually have too many fans.

Effective heat transfer is the game guys, I don't doubt that they are decent but putting products on the streets that do not preform as advertised is enough for them not to get my business, they should simply tell the truth about what they can and can't do

Totally agree with that statement, I spent half my time looking for decent fans.
