Yeah but remember though people said that about GW at first launch. Then 3 expansions later we seeing the massive amount of combinations available to users.

Though Im not so sure removing dual classes was a bad idea, it makes you focus on the characters true abilites more. Sure in GW there are numerous cookie builds that need dual to be effective like a MM but if they create the skills in the core class good enough we wont need dual anymore.

I will miss it dont get me wrong, just not sure if its bad or not till I get to play the full game enough to judge.

The removal of secondary classes don't bother me that much, it's the sheer lack of diversity in weapon skills. With my ranger in GW I don't even use my second profession. My marksmanship is a 14, Wilderness survival 12, and expertise 10. And i can create many builds in the ranger skills alone. The fact that every person in a particular profession has the same 5 skills for the type of weapon as every other person in that profession, is ridiculous. It also screams laziness to me on Arenanets part. I know that's harsh but they balanced GW pretty well in regards to PvE, with secondary professions and tons of skills. They could do it for GW2 they just don't feel like it. I know thats were weapon switching comes in, still more diversity in weapon skills would make the game great.

They didn't balance gw1 THAT well in non-pvp. I have literally ran the same RT 3 hero build through all four games with very, very minor adjustments here or there. Once i found that build i didn't have an reason to make more. I found a build that works very well and stopped working on it unless it could get better, which i couldn't find anything to put into it.

They did it well enough to be able to go through the game with different builds. I was against the introduction of heroes, all it encouraged was soloing.

No it ended causing more team play actually. Way to many PvE players would not join teams because of "no monks!" or, or not having the latest fotm build. Plus the hirlings were terrible and died in a heart beat so all it did was force players into niche builds to compensate (IWAY teams or b/p teams for example).

With the heroes, players now had the ability to make teams with fewer players required and with any mix and match of styles they wanted. I know because I played GW for years and prior to heroes it was frankly murder trying to get a team together for the harder parts of the content. I spent more time hanging around the various zones trying to get some players to join in than I ever did actually playing the content. All because people didn't like my build or didnt like my character class or didnt like my gear or who only wanted a cookie cutter character. And I had 7 bloody characters with shedloads of gear and builds.

Once heroes came along I rejoiced as I had way more fun with other human players actually joining in since I obviously didnt suck and had bloody good hero builds to make a team solid in loads of different styles.

I guess i never looked at it that way. Of course most of my playing time was before the introduction to heroes, and mainly in prophecies. I picked it up again when the player base had shrunk, getting a party together now is almost impossible, as everyone seems to use heroes, and the player base is smaller than it was.

A lot of the GW player base moved on to other titles because GW was getting stagnant. With GW2 announced it was only a matter of time before people gave up the game in favour of something else in the meantime.

That said though GW to me is and always will be one of the best online RPG games of all time. Better than WoW imo, precisely because of things like heroes, the low level cap and the fact that it was skill and timing that was required rather than two tonnes of buttons and hotkeys to press.

To be frank its going to take a fair bit of work on the devs part with GW2 to make it the same level of fun for me. But as I said I am reserving judgement until the full game hits, as its unfair to measure up a title before its even released. Though I am hoping its going to be good in the long run, I dont mind it being a little sucky to begin with, if there is a clear vision on the title's future and its at least fun to play.

Couldn't agree more there. GW will likely remain my favorite MMO as well.
