I especially think its funny when it mentions that apple users will willing pay more for the same room.

They aren't "charging" them more. They are making higher priced hotels show up before the lower priced ones. They have the option of purchasing the same rooms as anyone else for the same cost.

They are not providing PC users with a room for $99 a night then turning around and offering the same room to a Mac user for $129 a night. They are offering a completely different room to the Mac users than they are the PC users.

A friend of mine works for a hardware store and they did the same thing between the Spanish, English and Korean Catalogs. Higher end appliances were shown in English and omitted from Spanish while the coupon page only appeared in the Korean version.

I hate marketers

How does demonstrating that people browsing their site from Apple devices have more money show apple in a dimmer light?

I would wager that when you have an Aston Martin you are shown more prcey houses than in you role up in a Ford Fiesta as well.

If anything, this should bring negative attention to Orbitz rather than Apple. After all, who is directly responsible for the advertising?

Additional Comment:

Also, I feel compelled to point out how your ignorance is proof that people see what they want to see.

While the strategy is fair in a small skewed vision like this I would still say that in the end it is wrong. Everyone of my PCs (laptop/desktop/servers) are wayyyy more expensive than anything Apple can offer SMB/Gaming class (in 2007 I added up all the hardware I had purchased and that tipped the scales around 67K during my PC building hayday through my business). I guess I will just enjoy my discounted rates then

If you really think that that is indicative of the average pc user then I have a bridge to sell you.

That's because the company's data showed that Mac users spent an average of $20 or $30 more per room than Windows users
And they spend $500 to $1000 more for a computer or laptop. ;-P

This may become somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If they show Mac users more expensive rooms by default, it would follow that Mac users end up buying more expensive rooms. Their data right now may be good, but the more they do this trickery, the more their data will become useless. What if consumer preferences change?

More $ spent on a product <> more income.

Amazing how much ignorance their is around this forum.

My sister had a PC and it lasted her about 8 months. Then she got a Macbook and she has been using it for 6-7 years or so. This Macbook has been beat to heck through North and South America, 5 years of college courses, slammed in and out of school bags, etc etc. Yet it still runs to this day and has had a simple memory upgrade.

Her Macbook has never even been ""reformatted"" or needed an antivirus or any of that stuff we have to do with our PC's. Buy a Macbook and it will be good for twice as long as a PC, and the Macbook will require little to no attention for reliability. Questioning this is ignorant.

Quality will cost money, no doubt about it.

You're pretty funny. Explain how I still have PII and PIII rigs perfectly working in my garage. It's how you treat your computer that counts. I have been running all my computers without AV for years because I'm not a moron who just opens random exes.

I don't think Apples product quality has ever been in question, it's just that fact that they charge twice as much for no good reason, they're just a rip off.

Which is good why? Because it cost twice as much initially or that it will be way out of date by middle age..?
