Unhappy Help with multiple failures

Hello All,

Been awhile since I've frequented this forum, sad that comp problems are what bring me back. So the brief rundown is....nothing works haha. Ok so here goes.

First started having some crash issues a few months ago...irql bsod for awhile...and then I could not get my computer to boot...I mean not even a post beep with or w/o ram, vid cards...didn't matter. My board (Asus P5k-E) would not talk to me. So i left that for dead and swapped over to my second board (Asus P5Q-Deluxe) and went on my merry way.

Now about 3 weeks ago I started to have issues again. Random restarts and i seemed to have to keep re-seating my gpu (gtx560) and my ram (ocz 2x2gb 1150 cl5) so that my computer would boot.

Now about a week ago I started to have massive issues. BSOD every 20-30min. I've had memory management, video memory manager, irql, system exception, and a whole bunch of ram dumps. I thought maybe my ram has gone bad. So i tried memtest and 10pass no problem. Then it just kept getting worse and worse and I decided to run memtest again. 80k+errors per stick that I tried. Then I tried sticks from my second computer and they started showing errors. I tried each dimm slot and I got errors and crashes constantly...hell I ran a chkdsk/r and had the darn thing reset on me halfway through.

I tossed my ram into my other computer and ran memtest...0 problems. So basically what I am asking is does this look like 2 different isolated MB failures? or am I missing something else? I know CPU could be a culprit...but I've never had one fail on me.

Rig is in sig and only other hardware used was some Corsair DDR2800 1GB sticks for comparison.

Help is greatly appreciated in advance.

Check all the common hardware you used on both boards. CPU, PSU, HD, etc.
Could be any of those.

PSU checks out. I had to use it in my second rig while testing ram (didn't have 2PCIE power) It's reading 12.05 and 4.99 from my multimeter.

GPU works fine in the second rig as well, no issues that I could find.

Besides chkdsk/hdtune tests I'm not sure what to check with my boot drive (those tests were all good)

I could put the CPU into my second rig and test if you think that it really could be a possibility. If that's the case it will take me a few hours to get back to you guys. I'll have to pull out my PSU to put in that rig for the GPU.

EDIT: As far as temps are concerned, my CPU never gets above 35c normally and 48c full load. I got another q6600 to swap with if need be.

CPU is always a possibility. I've had them go bad in the blink of an eye. I wouldn't rule it out.

Ok, I'll put it in my other rig and get back to you tomorrow after I stress overnight. Though with the way I was crashing I might know within an hour. Thanks for the help

Additional Comment:

well just an update, nothing definitive. Got my X3210, GTX560ti, Raptor, and both 2gb sticks in my other computer. Also transferred the PSU over because of the need of 2xPCIE.

HDTune = checks out
chkdsk = checks out
memtest = 1loop no issues (will run for 12hr overnight)
prime95 = in process...

I will update when I find out more info. I'm hoping that this ends up working. Just a bad MB isn't so bad. Finding an LGA775 will be the challenge

Download "blue screen viewer" it will allow you to see the blue screen information after you log back into your computer so you can better track down what's going on. Use the information provided by the blue screens to track down where the problem is at, it should point you to specific drivers/dll's.

Ok so I stressed with Prime95 for 12hr and 0 errors. I ran memtest overnight and it completed 10passes no problem. I ran an artifact scanner for my gpu for 3hr and 0 errors. I'm going to run one more memtest (#9) while at work today and if that checks out I'd say mobo looks like a winner
