I hit 65380 3dmarks. http://3dmark.com/3dm03/6472995 the temp running 3dmark was 52. I have OCZ platinums that are rated at 2.8 volts and that is where the voltage is set. I have the case side panel off and this case is loaded with fans. Additional Comment: 3dmark is reading my OC all wrong. I figure they are a bit stuffed in the head. Well according to this http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K8/AMD...185CDBOX).html
the max operating temp is 65c at the Cpu. For some reason, Cpu manufacturers don't list max temp for what a core should hit. Personally, I'd keep it under the 65c Cpu temp and the Cpu temp will consequently be lower. Happy 4th BTW!! |

Thanks ShrimpBrime. Went to my brothers and tipped a few yesterday. I can probably go a little higher with this chip. I do know it will run 3 ghz but it does start getting hotter than hell.
To be honest this rig is fine for most of what I do anymore. I could have skipped two builds for the most part. I still love my 2500k but it is so easy to OC that this makes me feel like I have accomplished something. I will eventually put it away but I figure to play with it for a few more days. The new click bios is great but it leaves a guy feeling like he didn't really do the overclock. |
