New sli set up,got problems...

I have an msi gtx580 and i got an evga hydro2 gtx580,got it all installed today but ran into problems off the bat.

I put the evga in slot 1 and msi in slot 2,wouldn't post.

Tried the evga on its own, wouldn't post.

My msi on its own,no problems.

My msi in slot 1 and the evga in slot 3,boots up no problem, both cards showing in gpuz but have no option to turn on sli on nvidia control panel.Start bf3 and gpu2 (evga) is not being used.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Edit: played bf3 for about 30minutes and it crashed, not had that in ages.

Edit2: ive just read that because 1 is 1.5gb and 1 is 3gb ram the only way you can do it is with the nvidia hack?

Yes. It used to be that you could SLI mixed memory size cards, but nVidia removed that option a couple years ago.

I mean seems like a dumb question, but you did hook it up to a water cooling loop right?

The loop is fine, ive had loads of different setups with h20

The strange thing is,the option for sli appeared and everything was working until bf3 crashed, rebooted and the sli option was gone.

Reinstalled drivers,still the same.

Then the option came back but bf3 would keep crashing.Upped the voltage to 1.38 and still got the crashes in bf3 but it was fine in 3dmark11.

Right now ive only got the evga in,i might sell my msi and look for a second hand 3gb version.

If i could get the two to work i would stick with them as i got the evga for free so i dont feel like im losing on the 3gb ram.

It's probably not worth the hassle of having hacked drivers. I would just try and get two matched cards.
