How to set up an SSD-based system?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning on upgrading to a SATA III, 128gb SSD soon, but I don't really know what BIOS settings and other things I need to change/ do to make it work as quickly and efficiently as possible. I know that I need to set the ACHI in BIOS, but I'm not sure what else to do. Also, how can I set it up so that downloads will automatically (if possible) be put on the main storage drive (as explained below)?

Note: I'll also be using a 1TB SATA III mechanical drive for storage, games, media, etc. and the SSD will be for Windows and essential programs.

Thanks.

If its a brand new SSD then you need do nothing extra if you're running Win7 or Vista. With a few exceptions, most downloads/games can be directed to whatever drive you wish and executed from there. If you run Steam games, install it on your HDD. There are a few things that can be customized in Win 7 that can help save some space if space becomes a problem but you need do nothing right now. You can read through the following guide to get an idea of what can be done, but again, you need do nothing now: http://thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/o...ization-guide/
