4P systems

Why do they get so many points? It seems way way way more points. I remember when 600 points seemed good.

The points calculator gives bonuses based on how fast the projects are finished. It's a geometric scale, so even with the same work units, a 4p completes the work much faster. You can plug some numbers in the Bonus Point calculator, but essentially, get the work done in half of the time and get more than double the points. To make them produce even more points, they complete much more complex work units that would not be possible by most normal computers in even several days. But, the 4ps rarely will take over 24 hours for the same work.

I'm not sure if this helps, but take a look at my production trend. http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...hp?s=&u=602123

The 1 million points per month were up to 9 computers including a 2p. The other months are mostly only 2 4Ps which also use less power. For a dedicated folder, 4p with used 12 core cpus with a basic SuperMicro board is the way to go. More info about 4Ps is at Hardforum.com.

Ha, I remember when 100ppd was good.

4P systems pull tremendous point because the bonus point time factor. The faster the bigadv/SMP WUs get returned, the higher their bonus point amounts. That's why you see a single WU netting 500k points. Back when you could still cheat bigdav on a quad with HT, they would pull ~60k PPD on the same WU that would net 4p like 300-400k PPD.

Well for now I’m just going to add my gtx 670 in once I get my water block in the mail this Friday. With luck the swap into my loop will go smoothly. Maybe Santa might get me an upgrade system soon.
