Xonar Dx 44.1 vs 192Khz playback same
Most my mp3s are 128-192 bit quality. I have Swan M50w 2.1. Nice quality PC speakers. I have tried 44.1 - 192Khz playback. At least on MP3s I can't hear any difference. Is 192 really only for playback of a better source such as a blue ray? I mean in games i can tell either, if anything 192Khz seem to create some stutter vs 44.1. Why not just leave it at 44.1? Can some clear this up? Also does setting it to 192 in Xonar control panel over ride windows sound settings? I mean do you have to change the Xonar to 192 and also windoes sound? |

The "sample rate" you select is telling the card what the input is...you'll gain nothing (infact lose some quality in cases) if you select the wrong one. 192khz is only really for Blu-Ray, and only in certain cases...most Blu-Ray's don't even go up to 192khz, only certain ones. Just like only certain Blu-Ray's support 7.1 Most things are going to run at 44khz, some MP3's may be recorded at 48khz (using a program such as Winamp will tell you while you are playing). The only other thing that may get up to 192khz is a FLAC audio file, I have an album or two recorded in such sample rate. Difference? Yes...if your speakers are indeed good (as I've read) you should be able to tell the difference. Again, don't select the wrong sample rate for what you are playing.
