Replace old DVD burner in new build?

Planning a new build - http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...d.php?t=364165

Should I tear out my current DVD burner from the rig in my signature - http://www.lgsolutions.com/__downloa...S15_052808.pdf

Or just get a new one - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827135204 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151244

I was initially thinking of getting a Blu Ray burner, then realized I don't need it and decided on a Blu Ray reader, then realized I don't need THAT either, and so here I am.

I know it's a trivial and silly decision. The build's not cheap and $20 isn't going to make a difference, but I don't want to be throwing money away either...

Choice is yours, if the drives OK move it, if you need a drive in both systems buy a second drive. If your that strapped for cash that 20 bucks is gonna hurt, it's always useful to have a spare drive around the place anyway, so you wouldn't be throwing your money away.

If your going to invest money into something you already have then I would say no. If it was put towards a Blue ray Drive i would say yes.

I personally wouldn't. Rather spend the 20$ on some fans or something. To be honest, I never use a dvd/blu ray drive myself, so unless some cash falls on my head, I won't be buying one for my rig, ever.

Decide what you want. Do you have a lot of hardcopy games, movies on disc, ect?

I dont use DVD drives anymore. I have a slim USB DVD burner that I use on all 3 computers I have. It's a bit slow but for the amount of times I use it, it's acceptable. The free room gives me more space for wire tucking and hard drives/fans.

I say use your old drive.

I burn stuff all the time and the extra 20-25 bucks on another drive so you have a spare isn't a deal breaker to me.

It depends on use, I think Nagoshi's idea is best, something I've been thinking about for sometime, I very rarely use DVD drives and then it's for some applications and the odd back-up, the time will come when shop bought software will be on flash drives and not DVD's, I've been seriously thinking of buying a usb enclosure that you can put a 5 1/4 DVD drive into, so that I can make use of the DVD drives that are not getting used, just a thought.
