whenever I play a video, the video card temp. goes up to 58 degrees..is this normal?

When I play any video, my Nvidia Geforce 570GTX temperature goes up to 58 degrees even if I pause the video the temperature doesn't go down, is this normal?

Thanks

The reason for it warming up when playing video is because nowadays video rendering can be offloaded onto the GPU, which is a good thing - don't worry about it.

Thanks, is just that I didn't think the temp would go as high as when I play games so this was new to me.

my GTX580 runs at 50C just idling around in desktop. Games get it in the 70C range.

Also, if you use dual monitors I recommend using nvidia Inspector. For some reason 500 series cards don't go to a lower power state when in desktop (they are always in full 3d) using a lot more energy and producing much more heat. In my case this translates to 60W of extra consumption just by sitting on my desktop.

not to hijack, but is there a way around this, aside from disabling all but one?
