Oh, most certainly you'd be better off with a new MB, and, you'll be able to fully utilize the speed of the M4 you purchased.

Here is a screen shot of my M4, as well as one of my Mushkin drives. The M4 is actually performing about 10% better than its specs, using a native Intel SATA port.

So Dolshima your ssd drives are running in IDE mode, according to the Crucial forums the M4 won't run in IDE mode at all, is that right or not. I know most of the Sandforce drives don't, not sure about the M4's.

Nope, sorry, you misunderstood. I could never achieve the ATTO results I posted in I.D.E.

I use AHCI protocol for all my drives, SSD, or HDD. I was simply saying that most often you can run an SSD in IDE, but with much lower performance.

The reason I know that the 256GB M4 will run just fine in IDE, is because I accidentally forgot to set AHCI in the BIOS on another build, using an Asus Rampage III Formula board. I loaded Win7, and as soon as I saw the poor performance, I realized my mistake.

@ pckid9234 -- Sorry, but I'd be foolish to comment on the new board you purchased, simply because I'm not familiar enough with AMD hardware, because I always build Intel. However, I'm sure there are plenty of folks here who will answer your questions that are AMD specfic.

Thanks Dolshima, I wanted to verify that the M4 will run in IDE mode, I haven't got a M4 and the Intels I own with Intel controllers will run in IDE mode, I'm on a Laptop these days and it doesn't have IDE, it's AHCI only, I am shortly buying the 512gb M4, so I was curious that's all.

A lot of misinformation on forums and the Crucial forum is notorious for both good and bad info. Thanks again.
