You only have to set the team number. You can verify that they got there by searching by your user name. Or look at this link. It can take 1 to 2 hours for an update after the update time. That is, if the last update was at 3 pm. You have to wait until 3 pm, and also wait 1 to 2 hours. It looks like you are listed here if you are Ryan. Ryan doesn't seem to be a unique user. There is a Ryan on a lot of different teams.
http://folding.extremeoverclocking.c...hp?s=&u=104698 You should use the same passkey for your username on all of your systems. There is no need to have a different one for each. |

I'd monitor the temps on that laptop, I haven't heard of any thing bad happening but that's a lot of heat for some thing completely enclosed with usually never enough ventilation IMO. I quit folding on laptops 2 years ago but if it seems fine to you have at it
just keep an eye on it

I believe the estimated PPD is a guess based on the frame times. That will go up and down based on the workload caused by other processes on the system.

It will depend on the units yo get. There are several active units worth different points. The best PPD units I've gotten were: 8020 & 8019 GPU units would get 17K each on my GTX465, 11041 & 7623 SMP would get 12K PPD on my X4 955BE, and 8009 would get 4.9K PPD on my GT430. Best I've seen was 33K in one day. But since you get different units all the time and with usage of the PC, It will fluctuate, a lot. And all of my stuff is OCed which can give a nice little boost on GPU folding, core/shader more than memory. But with fermis what helps the most is having a card with a large number of shaders.
Going to 3.8GHz or higher on the 955 will give some gains, but nothing amazing for PPD on average, maybe 900PPD. I had to drop to 3.8 from 4GHz because of the heat and my AC needs to be cleaned out/ replaced. So I can let you know the difference that 200MHz drop makes in a few days. And a p4 will be lucky to get 500PPD. While single core units do need to be done, the P4 is just so weak that it's not really worth the extra money on the electric bill, IMHO. |

ok so what im really seeing is not really worth to OC for more points, maybe for the GPU
and oh **** i could get a lot of P4 units and build like a littler "farm" hmmm... oh well but right now im at 23k ppd so im happy if i could get to 30k ppd with something then that would be great Additional Comment: oh also anyone recommend me a good cheap setup for an AM3 board. I have 2 of them laying around the house...I was thinking about just making like a little platform out of wood or something and then throw the mobo on there... then download like a remote desktop to watch over them... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103886 two of these and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231395 two of these I already have a spare DVD drive to install linux or something, two small HDDs and a monitor to use for the time being. I figure those could yield me another 20k ppd together Last edited by pckid9234 : 07-24-2012 at 08:45 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

You can put the board on wood. Do consider adding a fan to cool the onboard chips. You can use putty to check in on the systems after you get them setup if they are linux if you install openssh. Otherwise, you can use remote desktop for the Windows boxes. They'll use slightly less power without a monitor hooked up.
