On Monday I can.

Additional Comment:

I will be posting the config momentarily, when a laptop is available for me to use.

Got the 1Gbit/s card in today. I am guessing I power off the switch and just push the card in there, turn it on and it works. I doubt these are hot-plugable... but does it need a configuration or will the switch know what to do with it?

How do I go about installing it to work?

Here is the startup-config file output from right before I put the GBIT base-T card into the switch:

Code:
Switch#show running-config

As of right now, the GBIT card is installed and working. Client file transfer speeds are at about their max while the servers 1Gbit/s connection barely has to try. Maybe 11-17Mb/sec for each client.

Additional Comment:

Just an FYI, I bought a used switch on eBay for cheap. It is a Cisco 3500 XL, but it has 48-ports instead of 24-ports. I am hoping to use it for testing and to keep my Cisco CLI skills in check.

Additional Comment:

Additional Comment:

I bought a used 48-port Cisco 3500 XL to play around with.

So, does that configuration look right for Etherchanneling?

I'm honestly not sure if maybe you are using a different version of IOS than I'm use to but you should see a port-group as an interface which I'm not seeing in your running config.

This is an example from one of my switches

For the Cisco 3500 XL, I used this as a resource:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/swit...c5/swg/swg.pdf

^ it states in there how I setup the config file. Strange how Cisco has not unified all these features across devices. Or am I just missing something here?

I have my own 3500 XL 48-port now to play with. I use it for practice. Want me to make up some passwd's for you to crack?

If you want sure! I was messing around with it last weekend a bit. Was pretty entertaining on how quick it could chew through some basic word passwords.

By the way did you ever get your issues resolved?

Yes I put in 1Gbit/s card for the switch and negotiated the connection with the NIC.

Now... I want that speed on all my network devices. However, not looking forward to replacing thousands of feet of network cable. It's all in the ceiling and I would have to work through very dirty panels and stuff. Whoever wired the building used CAT5 through everything and used CAT5e for crimped wires that are visible. Almost seems shady.
