I lost interest in these when i read you cant overclock them. My A6-3400 llano is running 2.4ghz 24x7 on stock voltage without any stability issues. Now that trinity is out, llano laptops are end of life and are even cheaper. Id much rather have an A6-3400 + discrete graphics then just overclock CPU/GPU

My only regret is that i didnt get one with dedicated graphics... wish i had a little more oomph in the GPU department.

Overclocking might depend on the maker or is AMD actually locking these things down?

On my E450, I haven't been able to overclock the CPU, but I can overclock the GPU limited to 153MHz.

Some laptops that can't overclock, the popular ones have modded bios downloads to enable overclocking.

Laptops are not intended for overclocking. Any decent overclock require extensive cooling and high performance PSU, and you wont get laptop charger to provide that power and you wont install the liquid block inside your laptop.

This is Extreme Overclocking forums, laptops can and are regularly overclocked, and Llano was especially good for this. A lot of Llano chips could be overclocked AND undervolted, or at lease left on stock voltages/very minor rises. Llano was very conservatively binned due to low yields

I believe Trinity will be overclockable, it's just that the likes of K10stat don't work (Trinity does not have K10 cores so it is no surprise really), but Trinity clocks are higher by default anyway

It's true that laptops have lower thermal headroom than desktops, but to say you can't get a "decent" overclock is just wrong

You may be able to get a "decent" overclock out of a laptop but the thermal limits and the uniqueness of some of the products make it a gamble at best for some people.

Most people do not overclock laptops not because it is not possible, but because the risk does not outweigh the benefit for 95% of laptops.

I literally rage when people say you cannot and should not overclock laptops. ESPECIALLY on an overclocking forum no less!

I overclocked my old gateway FX 7815u from 2.1ghz to 3.4ghz (after swapping to an unlocked CPU) It did get quite hot, but i applied AS5 and used a coolermaster laptop pad and it rocked for gaming. scored like 12,000 something on 3dmark06 which is a lot more then most current laptops.

Anyway, the llano is an excellent overclocker and has so much more IPC then trinity....It would be great if you can overclock trinity, but it would need to reach 3.2 ghz or so to beat a 2.4ghz llano probably.

i havent tried 2.8ghz, but at 2.4ghz it only gets luke warm when playing world of warcraft. never had any stability issue either. still has great battery life too.

I wanted to ask about undervolting these at stock values. I found that my A8 HTPC will run way under the stock voltage @ 2.9ghz. For some reason, these chips are volted a little high for 32nm IMO. You guys should have np keeping temps down with a little bit of an overclock.

Also, can these laptops Trinity/Llano adjust the Cpu fan speeds?

The fan on mine adjusts itself. I assume it's done by temp.

Auto fan speed is really old feature, and is mandatory thing for all current laptops.
