Report: Bethesda Obtains S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Rights

http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/...stalker-rights

Quote:
A new blog entry is claiming that Bethesda may have acquired the rights to the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series of games.

Ukranian blogger Sergey Galyonkin shared the assertion from a "trusted source", explaining that Bethesda now has the rights to the extended S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe, though developer GSC Game World has not sold the brand.
How many people are tired of this "game" (ha) and just want them to make the **** game already!

I'm not sure how much I'd like a mashup of the two. Certainly the open world of Fallout would be an improvement on STALKER but still...

Stalker 3 - featuring VATS!

While Beth make good sandbox worlds, we really dont need them making ALL of them. Stalker was a decent enough title but always felt a little "off" from what (to me) it should be. Lets hope that its a happy half-way between the two styles. With Stalker getting more engaging stories in the world and more freeroaming and sandboxing, and not getting pushed on out the "creation" (gamebyro) engine. Beths engine at the stage just has way to many problems with it.

This will seriously ruin the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series

I think they will respect the franchise. It doesn't have to be like Fallout.

Fallout wasn't that bad IMO. I really enjoyed them! And IMO this would be a good addition!

If they adopt the engine and style, and don't add vats or pip boys, this could be win. If they try to make it their own, they might kill it.

To me call of pripyat was phenomenal. It held me at the edge of my seat and had my eyes darting about the shadows in my house during late night sessions.

The faction element, the trading, the artifact hunting, the paranormal activity, the superb dx11 lighting, the weapon smiths, the story, the atmosphere... all stunning in cop. There's this part where your creeping around a haunted building and you hear a crying baby... I was so creeped out....

Fallout styling ALWAYS was retro - check out 1 and 2.

I'm a massive fan of Fallout - and I really liked what they did - though - granted I liked New Vegas more as the team was comprised of more Black Isle team members, so the story and humor etc was truer to the original.

The fps element - well that's just how the world of RPG has evolved - though they did a great job of immersing you in a post apocalyptic environment.

Jesus, if they use that engine from Fallout I'll be mad. Fallout: great, great story and setting, but terrible engine. Also, if you run out of AP with VATS, you're kind of screwed.
