New ram and cpu overclock

Hi, im upgrading my ram, going from 4gb to 16gb. Just wondering if i put in new ram will i have to re-do my cpu overclock. My ram is only slightly overclocked to about 1444, the new ram will handle that speed, might just have to alter the voltage to it. Just wondering if the new ram will reset my bios serttings, or alter my multiplier, or will i just have to slot it in and away i go.
Thanks

Your best bet is to clear cmos before installing such an extravagant amount of ram. Your memory controller will likely require more voltage but the ram itself can be left at SPD settings.

And, just wondering, what kind of applications are you working with that make use of 16GB?

Not really needing it all to be absolutely honest. My current ram is jammed up against the cpu cooler, so i wanted to get some low profile ram, was stuff all difference in price so i just went with a 2x8gb kit.

IF the change in RAM itself doesn't reset your bios on its own, you will still have to adjust the timings and voltages of the new RAM if they aren't exactly the same, but you shouldn't meed to reset the whole BIOS to stock.

Ok, so the ram is 1.5V, so i just have to change the voltage to 1.5v (the old ram is sitting at 1.6v) and change my timings to the same as is on the box of the new ram. Sorry i'm still a noob. I overclocked my cpu, but did it with guides from this site, i got a bit of understanding but im still kinda treding water in the shallow end of the pool.

****, just did some research, and i think my mobo wont take 8gb sticks (max 4gb sticks i think), can anyone confirm or deny, worse case senario ill have to just sell the ram on and get something different, only $100 so not the end of the world

Additional Comment:

Bump

Anyone?

Hi, put it in there, works fine, shows 16gb of ram, but for some reason it just just keeps taking away my overclock, pretty much setting everything to default. Comes up with a message that due to overclock, current settings may differ from bios settings. Could use it with everything stock, but i wont. Ill try and get a 8gb kit.

Additional Comment:

Hi, thanks for your help, i ebayed it, bought a dual channel 2x4gb kit of corsair low profile vengence ram. Has the same timings as my current ram which should make things easier.

Anyone had any experience with this ram, i hear good things, is what i originally was going to buy. Lot of love for corsair, had a psu go within a month, but the rma was golden, very good customer service.
