GTX 570 causing EMI?

New build as of 1 week ago. Specs in signature. Everything works beautifully...

...BUT I noticed when doing something 3D or graphics-intensive in Windows 7 (64 Ultimate), there is a high-pitched whine/buzz that comes out of the speakers. I can't hear it in games because it's covered up by the in-game music/sounds.

I e-mailed ASUS and they want to RMA the card...what do you guys think? I hate to send it away after just building it, and will be upset if they don't fix the problem, or worse, damage the card in some way. But what else can I do?

Try using a different psu to remove that from the equation/put the GPU in the 2nd rig and see if it still whines

Have you tried another set of speakers? Do you have a dedicated sound card or are you using onboard?

QFE... This is a common occurrence with On-board sound. In order to eliminate this if you are using On-board sound you either need to get a higher quality motherboard that properly separates the sound card from the other electronics on the board, or you need to buy a dedicated sound card.

Yes, I'm using the onboard HD audio... I suspect you're correct. In that case, beside buying a stand-alone sound card, is there any sense in:

1. Sending the video card in for RMA? (I guess the hope would be that it's putting out excessive interference and they send back a different one that doesn't interfere as much).

2. Moving the video card to the next PCI-E slot?

P.S. QFE = quoted for emphasis?

Just get a dedicated sound card. One can be had relatively cheap and they make a world of a difference.

Personally I use a HTomega Striker 7.1

No
No
Correct

It is very unlikely that your video card has anything at all to do with this.
