Xfire

So, I just downloaded the xfire client, because a lot of my friends have it and I have to say I'm pretty disappointed in what it has to offer. First thing is: It fails to detect almost a half of my games so I can't use xfire to record videos from them or take screenshots. I mean, I downloaded xfire and now I'm supposed to download FRAPS separately? Second problem is: Can't upload screenshots that I caught with ingame tool or PrintScreen. They say that it is a precaution for people using xfire as general image host. I find it plain stupid. So, what do you guys think about the program?

I used to use Xfire, GTA IV worked fine for me. I binned it off a year ago for various reasons.

I use Fraps now to record games, it's awesome!

If you are just looking for something to use to record video I would suggest looking into Dxtory. If you want the specific you can do a quick forum search for "Dxtory" which should pull up my other posts on the subject, but I have found it to be a better video recording software for me.

Use Fraps and communicate through steam. If you add your non steam games to steam, and launch through steam, it'll give you the steam overlay.

Steam voice chat is atrocious. Overlay is OK.

Used to use Xfire to voice chat with friends while playing, recently a buddy put TS server on his server box, and we've been using that. Xfire is still the fail over however.

Yup, I use TS and/or Vent for voice.
