Thumbs down Hello Mr.Scott

Hey I got a couple of Hyper Cooler 212's and I was wondering if you would share how to adapt them to a socket A or 462?

Not if you plan on running 2 volts through it. It works just fine. I use it on PIII's, slot 1's, 754, and 939 too.

Rocky, I'll post up some pics shortly.

Pic 1 is of 212+ on a PIII. Socket A mounts the same way. Just use a stock socket A or PIII HS clip.

Pic 2 is what I use to mount a 212+ to 939 and 754. Use a 939 backplate with a hardware setup like you were mounting a waterblock. If your Socket A board has bolt through holes, you can make a setup like this for that board too.

Pic 3 is a 212+ mounted on a Slot 1 processor.

Pic 4 shows the fins previous to removal to clear the ram on my BE6-II Slot 1 board.

Wouldn't a water block be easier? Not sniping, just curious why not.

Sometimes, but the cost is about 10 times as much, and usually water blocks are platform specific. The point here was a cheap universal high performance cooler.

FWIW, I have a water setup for all these platforms also, along with various pots for sub ambient cooling. Some people don't, and asked for a little help.

The BE6-II was a "side of the road" recovery, believe it or not.
The PIII board that you can't really see in the pic is a CUSL2-C.
The PIII's are quite fun to OC. Very similar to socket A.

I still have my ASUS Slotket somewhere in my drawers along with two Voodoo3 AGP cards (one of which we got brand new with the computer back in the days) along with the original 550E chip and a 1GHz chip I got from Metalsoft. Makes me nostalgic everytime I see them. Also makes me want to build an old school Quake III Arena rig
