It looks as if the OC is set to auto in the bios. The bus freq is locked in AOD because of it.
Run the Trc at 41 clocks for XMP timings of 800mhz and OC the bus to that. The voltage should be good anywhere from 1.5v-1.65v at 800mhz effective or less. The Cpu voltage is pretty good to start with. Should carry the OC near 4ghz. If you fold, that would be stability testing enough if your running Cpu clients. Otherwise Prime95 would work just fine. |

The way I'd do it is by Multi first. That way you can see what the Cpu can handle by itself without stressing other system components.
After you reach your goal (hopefully) you would back the multi down and start the Ram HT/NB OC. |

Gotcha. I read your AOD tutorial and very insightful. I will go up .5 on the multi and then fold with it for 24 hrs and keep doing that

You shouldn't need to fold for 24 hours on a .5 multi. Your at 3.2ghz stock, run it right up to 3.6ghz and fold for 8 hours over night w/e have you. Most Phenom II's with C2 steppings are good up to 3.8ghz. You shouldn't have any issues up to that speed as long as the cpu temp stays 50c'ish or less.

Ok so i think max at stock volts is 3.684
I pause f@h and go to AOD and just bump the multi. I bumped it up to 3.8 and go to restart f@h and auto crash 3.7 same thing. So any ideas to tweak somethig to get 3.7 or 3.8 my temps are around 41-43c |

3684mhz on stock volts is good. You can Bump the V-core a little. Keep it under 55c if you can. Up to 1.45v should be ok. Closer to 1.40v would be better.
But how are you getting 3684mhz? Cpu-z? or AMD OD? I would recommend trying these settings in bios if you plan to have it a little permanent. OC software is good for benchmarking when your beyond posting limits of the system. Then you give it a nudge to make a better time in windows. Phenom II 955BE C3 V core range 0.85V - 1.4V. If your at 1.4v now, try a little more. +.0250 would be a good start. OC a little at a time and OV a little at a time. My 980BE runs 1.45v or more from stock. So I know it'll get difficult to cool pretty fast. I've tried 1.35v to 1.4v and it doesn't cut it at 3.8ghz. I actually artifact during gaming from it. Never touched the video card once........ |

Read it in aod and core temp... But i was jus so **** confused by the uefi bios nvm all bios tht deal with oc... I couldnt find the multi... But hmmm maybe i will try 3.7 in the bios... Maybe it could workk? If now i bump it up .125 (vcore) and shoot for 3.8 as a final goal with my set up.

The more you view/use your bios, the better you'll know and understand it. You don't have to change any settings until your familiar with the layout.

Well its been running full blast no problems at 46c
I was thinking if i get it to 43c or even better 40c i can push it a bit more... My ambient is around 28c... Tiny room no ventilation really and im barely in it. What if i can bring it down to 23c And maybe put like a 12 inch corcular fan right on the case (case fully open) And maybe turn on a ceiling fan thats in there... And throw an extremely cheap widow AC in? |

Cpu ratio is the cpu multiplier. 3.2ghz is 16 and 200 would be the reference or bus clock if you will.
Take the Cpu voltage off of offset mode and put it to manual. Then you'll have control of that. If you use Cpu load line calibration, it will automatically bump the v-core up during a full load. You can turn that off, but keep in mind that it does help with v-droop if you see that occur during a full load. Meaning the Cpu voltage readout will drop when you use all four cores. Quote:

K good luck!! It'll ge teasier the more you play around in the bios. The settings are intimidating, but don't be discouraged. I'll do the best I can to help you along the way.

so leave the CPU bus/ PEG frequency alone? I changed that and did nothing (first attempt, thought thats what i did). then i re read your post about 4 times and finally changed auto to 218 and booted back in but CPUZ is still reading 3.4... am tryin a 3rd time
3rd time no joy I do not understand the description... Last edited by pckid9234 : 08-23-2012 at 09:22 PM. |

Yea you can leave it at 200. There's no need to stress the Ram and such when your actually looking for Raw Cpu speed which is always first in a system.

OK Be sure AMD Over Drive doesn't start up with the PC.
Also be sure Cpu-z is up to date as well. They update pretty often. Additional Comment: You know what? For $hits and grins lemme have a complete system spec list. I'm curious what size your monitor is and what graphics card your using in particular. Last edited by ShrimpBrime : 08-23-2012 at 09:33 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |
